hey guys do the p1i files work for unbranding?
Unfortunately - as far as I can see this method does not work for the P1. I have bob_fs files for GW1 and Generic Germany - and all <1KB files seem to be the same. I also did this method before a lot of times with a p990 - if I compare the p990 and p1 during the update process, the timing when the files are generated seems to be different.

i successfully flashed my CDA/87 firmware to R6E30 by altering my blob_fs files with the one provided by antz88c.
but only 4 files need to be altered though. if copy all of it, SEUS cant detect my phone at all.
my version after updating :
Phone : CXC162037 R9H004
Bluetooth : CXC162143 R1D
Organizer : CXC162108 R6E30
CDA : CDA162024/87 R2A

You might wanna specify which 4 files that would be? Did it myself using Davinci but might be nice for other users who want to give it a try.

Do I understand it correctly that before and after this the CDA stays the same? How can this work then? Could it be that SE just made the new firmware available for CDA /87 while you where testing and the update was not the result of your filechange? Yesterday the update was released at least for CDAs /51 and /44 for example.
The files you replaced, did they have the same amount of bytes (original and replacement)?

i'm pretty sure that the successful update is due to the file altering method. cuz i've been trying to update through the normal way at least 5 times within 2 hours before i use this method. and after i overwrite the file, straight away can update.
the replacement technic works by fooling the SEUS server into thinking the phone is different CDA, but doesn't change it though.
the source and replacement file name and bytes are all the same.
anyway, this is just my opinion though. any CDA 87 user can confirm whether the new firmware is released?

I've had my O2 branded P1i for a few days now and just noticed this thread. This is the first Symbian handset I've had since the P900 came out. I'm quite interested in removing the branding but am a bit nervous and don't want to risk damaging it. Could someone make a step by step guide in how to perform the debranding ? It would really help me out a lot.

To bad... I would love to see this trick working again for the P1...
But a CDA change is mandatory for this trick to work. After the files are swapped SEUS updates the phone with the same firmware, but changes the CDA. After this SEUS runs a second time but sees the new CDA - and loads and installs the new firmware. Without the new CDA inbetween, SEUS would never load the new files.
I did now an automated compare between my Generic Germany bob_fs folder and my Generic World 1 bob_fs folder. Almost all files are identical - byte for byte. In my Generic Germany folder there are 13 files which cannot be found in the GW1 folder. In the GW1 folder there are 50 files which cannot be found in the GW1 folder. 3 of this Generic Germany files have a filesize below 1KB (300, 317, 254 bytes) 4 of the exclusive GW1 files have a filesize below 1KB (293,293,239,315 bytes). The 3 Generic Germany files have the same timestamp and the 4 Generic World 1 files have the same timestamp.
If I would have to guess I would try to swap the 317 with 315 and 254 with 239 (including renaming and so on). But as my phone is working fine currently I do not really want to risk it at the moment. If someone is desperate enough to do it - please PM me and I will mail the 2 or 4 files.

Okay, what I found was that the files that should initiate the change MUST be OLDER then the ones installed.
This is valid for the P990 and P1 so far. I have problems and then I found out that only if the files are from an older firmware then the one installed, this change will occur.
