@ Ares - not to be greedy, but....any idea when SE has in mind for the release of R6?
I wonder if they will EVER put a silent key s/c for FO in any f/w update.
(yes we know about the arrow/volume/silent.....not much a "shortcut" though is it now).

All I can say is, THIS is how the P990i should be realest at the first time. Its just like a new phone now, cant belive im holding the same phone in my hands.... I did not do an restore, did it all from the scratch again, and im glad I did. For the SMP I did not install it right now, I will wait for a new release. But apps, menu and scrolling in contacts and music is so SUPER fast now. Me VERY pleased

Hi every i got a question about this firmware for the p990i, has anyone of you had the trouble where by you open up programs until the ram is depleted to 5mb free and then the phone touchscreen refuses to work and goes all funny ie when i tap in a corner the top menu drops down and sometimes i cant open up folders or menus. and when i try and use the stylus to write a sms it doesnt do anything except black squiggle lines start appearing.
it is quite frustrating since i have to wait for like 5 minutes before it settles down, and then it works properly again. sometimes even restrating the phone doesnt make a difference.
i had the 162007/8 CDA string initially then used kulankendi to change it to 162007/1

As a matter of fact, I DID. But this was always after the flash when I restored and re-installed programs one after the other. Then the battery gets warm.

Thanx michael alot for your super fast reply but if i only backed up settings what should it restore from the previous firmware?
Cheers,
Well, if you only backed up the settings, then only those will be restored! I presume they consist of the phone settings which include time, location, mms, sms, internet settings. Perhaps also the radio and camera settings.
I always restore those too since its too much work for me to manually put all those settings back in. And so far, since the beginning of the p990 and its fw releases, I had NEVER ever any trouble because I restored anything.
Just make sure you do a BackUp again with any new fw release!
Regards

I always do a backup everytime I update the phone, but I don't restore them, I just do it as a safety measure, in case something inevitable happens and I need them back, I just use outlook and i would say it would restore 75% of my settings, very stable and reliable. The other 25% i don't mind keying in manually, it has become quite a nice "after update" ritual for me since the rest of the labour work is being done for me by ms outlook

Hi!
When I tried to update my P990i SEUS told me me that my handset is already up to date. Firmware version of my handset:
Phone:CXC162037 R9EC001
BT:CXC162058 R5A01
Organizer:CXC162090 R4B03
CDA:162008/68 R6A02
May be update for this CDA version is not available yet. Could anybody please advise if update for this version (Hong Kong Generic Trade) is available. Thanks.
