If you are gonna read P1's review at Mobile-review.com, one of the its disadvantages is slow start-up which has something to do with slow processor speed. Processor speed and GPU seem to be the backlog of SE's UIQ devices.
Z8 boots not less than 3 times and 2 times faster than P1 and S60 devices (N95, N73 etc.). Having a 300mhz processor makes all the difference for Z8.
I do not understand why SE is keep using slow processor. They just making it hard for themselves. There's a lot of better processor and graphics card out there that will truly show the capabilities of UIQ.
S60 feature pack 2's devices will come out later this year. Those will sport out a more stable UI back-up by bigger rom memory, fast processor and good GPU. That again give us reason why to choose S60 devices over UIQ's.
Hardware support plays a vital role in making a stable device. I hope the next generation of UIQ-based phones will have better hardware support.

rss_ndrsn, maybe the autonomy is the cause using a slower processor?
anyway, does it have 128mb of ram or 64??
uiq3 or uiq3.1??

I didn't say the nexperia was better than anything Dogman, I just said there was nothing wrong with it, and there isn't. If you feel those other processors are necessary then you go right ahead and buy another phone that's more suitably equipped for your needs. For me, the performance of my M600 is already exemplary, both in terms of speed and battery life. I look forward to it being improved further by the extra memory - which is the only real problem in the current UIQ3 hardware that I'm aware of.
You talk about the "facts" of streaming video - the simple truth is that the M600/W950/P990 already stream video perfectly well. I've got good quality TV on my mobile now, and amazingly that's achieved without HSDPA or a processor change, so where exactly are you going with that?
The fact that the processors in these phones won't be able to take full advantage of HDSPA speeds is a null point, an irrelevancy, as everyone's perfectly well aware that these phones aren't capable of receiving HDSPA anyway. I do believe that particular topic has already been done to death. Once again, if no HDSPA is a problem for you, don't buy one!

to a point i agree... devices uses the latest hardware can be better on paper.. but if se is able to make the older hardware perform well then it doesn't really matter...
my guess is they've got a ton of old chips they didn't sell and now they gotta use them lol....

@rss_ndrsn
The Z8 uses the same OMAP2420 chip as the N93, N93i, N95 and soon to be released E90. These N series devices boot in between 22seconds for my N93 to 27 seconds for the N95 and whilst these are all at least 2-3 times faster than the SE UIQ3 devices i can't see the Z8 being any faster with the same chip the N73 is slower as it doesn't have this chip.
