Late '09 or early '10 sounds more like it, given the time it took them to release a
counterpart to each K-device (K850->W902 and K800->W890).

Well yeah late-early 09-10 makes some sense but not a lot. I mean we should have at least by now 2-3 5mp walkmans and the 3.2mp should at least all come with flash/led.

Well, Nokia has only just released its first S40 feature phone with GPS, WiFi and 5MP. I'm guessing that
will release a slider and candybar (or even a W980-esque phone but w/o flash) with similar specs early next year. You have to remember that Walkman phones have a different design and appeal and are marketed accordingly.
already has five-odd 5MP phones to choose from in a variety of sizes, so its not as if you're left high and dry. Not including the most basic LED in a 3.2MP snapper is a sore point, I'll agree on that. I'm personally hoping for a SF-based 5MP sharp shooter with xenon and high fps VGA recording.. don't really anything more than that.

True but if they want walkman to stay appealing and alive they should start have higher quality parts as standard parts and not once in a blue moon things like how they gave the w705 flash/led but not the w595. And before anyone ay anything bout the comparison i made it is fair as the w595 could have easilt been fitted with one.

ABOUT F**KING TIME!!!
I have to say, its really just SE catching up with the rest of the market in this case. I'd really love to see them innovating again, the way they used to. But for now, obviously, they must regain their losses by any means necessary.

Now that's what I wanted to hear
Still, I dont think Hikaru will be able to match X1 in terms of usability unless it is also a WM device. Dont hold me to this, but from what Ive seen, most of the best S60 apps arent nearly as good as those for WM (IMHO). Also, if it is WVGA, that would make it a tall, thin device, like the X1 is. Therefore, it would make no sense to have the downsliding rocker keypad. Would be much better to just have a full landscape QWERTY in that case (and its not out of the question, announcing that a year after X1 was announced).
