Just had my first issue with my c905. Was using the WiFi when it suddenly went to a black screen. Turned it on and off but was unable to get a signal at all. Removed the battery and the same thing. When I got home I hooked it up to charge in the meantime and it did not recognize the battery. Had to use SEUS to get it working properly again. It wasn't awful but it is annoying having to download all my APPS and favorites and such again. This is the first issue I've had.
The only other gripe I have is that the "up" on the D-pad is stiff but I just figure it is because that is the least used direction. Perhaps there is something wrong? Other than that I love the phone.

For Gods Sake!!!!
Have Sony Ericsson acknowledged and fixed the issues associated with this phone?
My 1st C905 had the Dpad stiffen up after 1 month and my second one is having the same bloody issue!
How difficult is it for SE to make a reliable Dpad?
I'm ready to bin this pos and get something more reliable, especially if SE have not provided a redesign for the bloody dpad.
I really dont have the patience to be taking my phone in for repair every coupld of weeks.

sony ericsson are not in the business of making reliable or quality phones, and never have been.

there is only one way to improve the state of sony ericsson's notorious unreliablility, and that is to not buy their phones.

Up until the release of the k850 SE built VERY reliable phones and seem to be getting back on that same path. Do you really get off TROLLING cell phone forums?

After reading this thread I thought I would share my issues with you as they are very similar to others.

I'm on Orange in the UK and have had a C905 (silver) since early November, currently I'm using my 3rd model having had the first two replaced due to faults.

1st - Ear piece bust.
2nd - No.4 button on keypad stiffened up so much was very difficult to press.
3rd - Is now going faulty with the DPad down arrow going stiff which will inevitably deteriorate over the coming days/weeks.

I can almost guarantee I'll be on the phone to Orange again within the coming weeks asking for a replacement. For the record Orange couldn't have provided better service getting a replacement to me each time within 24hours.

Bar the faults I'm content with the C905 but I get the feeling if I get a 4th replacement this will no doubt bust within time. Does anyone know if Orange has a policy whereby you can request an alternative phone if there are continuous faults with a particular phone?

Orange Rep told me that after 5 replacements they will try and talk me into getting an alternative phone. I told them they could just try and get me a working c905 as it's the handset I want. No other touches it.

Fortunately the 5th handset I got works great. It did develop a stiff downkey which I almost sent it to SE to fix (rather than bother Orange and get yet another f**ked c905) but was worried that they would f**k up some other part of it. Leaving it for a bit and using it normally seems to have fixed the stiffness and now, even though its not exactly as the up/left/right buttons it is a lot better than it was.
So don't lose faith, there are good handsets out there. I use mine daily for all its functions and it feels like it's gonna last. Don't even have the darned keypad scratches that the other 4 handsets I had developed within hours!

Anyway Orange told me the handset is covered for 24h replacement for 6 months (usually 28 days), so persist OR if you're semi happy with the handset then contact SE for an RMA form instead.

Also I should mention, I'd flashed 3 of the handsets I've sent back with DaVinci's generic firmware. Obviously the faults were hardware related but Orange have not mentioned it.

I really thought SE had sorted out their quality control. Whats going on? Does anyone think this flagship phone is becoming the next K850i?

I wish Sony Ericsson had made a K800i with a 2.4 inch screen and the dpad on the c702.
The K800 is such a brilliant phone and even though my c905 is out for repairs the K800i is just such a pleasure to use that I dont really care.
2.5 years old and not a single spec of dust under the screen and all buttons working as like new. Down on the Dpad is a little unresponsive but manageable.
Please Sony Ericsson Fix your Quality Control issues by the time the Iduo is out.

Are you sure you have a d-pad on the K800?
@Bonovox
Brightspark, for instance.

I wonder why SE won't make more phones like that, the cost shouldn't be that high. K800 has no metal parts on it right?

Yes the K800i has metal down the sides of the front part of the phone.
