Sounds decidedly mid-range to me. I'm not quite sure what the advantage a sealed battery has - someone mentioned that it might be to save space but the dimensions don't seem dissimilar to the X10, which isn't exactly wafer thin.

I'm hoping there are some great specs or tech we don't know about yet that will wow us on announcement day.

True there is no way that spec is mid range unless some think it is

A sealed battery allows a larger battery to be used in a device of similar dimensions. If the battery is sealed, then it doesn't need its own extra casing and the connector assembly can be significantly simplified, therefore allowing for larger battery cells.

Ah, well yeah, high-end. It would be great if the 1.5Ghz processor could become standard across all 2012 Xperias, like the 1Ghz was was in 2011.

@lolstebbo. Thanks for the explanation.

looks like Sony has the chance to succeed only if they launch it by III 2012. MSM 8660 is so outdated compared to Tegra 3, it's even much inferior to Exynos 4210. And so much space wasted. And camera samples look quite pathetic. To me it's a 550€ phone for 1Q 2012, but 475-500 for 2Q, when quads enter the market.

Looking at the spec sheet and design I'm not sure this is going to be this year's balls-to-the-walls phone like Arc was last year.

At the risk of repeating myself, I think it's more likely the Neo successor which will have very similar specs to THE flagship of the year, but a hosed down style and design and slightly different specs in one or two areas, like Neo had the front facing cam but arc had, the bigger screen and all the sex.

Let's hope it's not Sony's flagship for the whole 2012.

I would hope this as well but it seems doubtful, there is a reason why this device has been the most (really only) 2012 device leaked. The insider(s) are more likely to take pictures of SE's high-end flaghsip phone, then a mid range one and the information from the insiders suggest this as well.

Also in terms of the neo/arc place in the market I think SE wont repeat this, as it must of caused confusion having a phone (neo) that in some areas was actually better then their flagship (arc) and is why they tried to distance the two in Q3 2011 by downgrading the camera on the neo v and upgrading the processor on the arc s.
