Since this is the Samsung G S III discussion tread I only want to say that the phone performs exellent

Fastest and most fluid phone I have ever had, it is well built and good looking and if I should describe it in only one word it would be. . . . . . Elegant
So far Sammy has sold:
24 mill S I
28 mill S II
7 mill Note
9 mill S III (presale). . . . . . and many million more will be sold

Sceptical over the sales figures. Samsung quote 9 million pre orders but is that 9 million consumer pre orders or does that include retail orders and warehouses?? Hmmm. Anyway cannot do link as on phone but Android Authroity on You Tube done a drop test of the GS3 & 4S. Both phones cracked the screen but the GS3 cracked on 2nd drop.

Thats a single core android and faster than windows phone in boot time.
I will agree that android needs to be further optimized, but comparing boot time between s3 and lumia 800(1/2 second lead??) is make believe for those guys who paid as much for a non functional smart device. If you want something faster then take the new nokia s40 series with 1 ghz processor. Its almost as functional and boot time is probably faster than windows phone

.. With android, you could literally browse any website as how you would on a pc, Play great quality games and watch almost any video. Those are the places where extra cores and ram comes in.

Yep, incredible sales figures, seems Samsung remain the only manufacturer capable of making a smartphone thats feature packed, powerful yet with a UI that's incredibly fast and smooth all in one, and that's why these phones continue to fly off the shelves with each successor topping its predecessor in sales.
Even as a GS2 user i if find it hard to find a phone that beats it in every way other than the Galaxy Note and Galaxy S3, the other manufacturers seem to always have something missing, or have old hardware or just crap hardware.

+1, AMEN!!! I have no idea how many times I've had to say something similar about Android to WP comparisons.
If you stripped out all that Android had and gave it the same low functionality as WP, you'd probably find them performing similarly. At the same time I find it so laughable that Speed is the only place WP is comparable to Android despite being built by a company that is on its 3RD mobile OS if you count the Kin OS, yet they seem to be still far behind.

Every Windows device I have had boots up extremely fast. And browsing is speedy with the same if not better website rendering than Android. You can say all you like but that's what I have experienced. I don't care about benchmarks or 3D games. I don't think Samsung are the only ones who are capable of making fast powerful phones. HTC have done that and the One series has been selling well too especially in the US

Whizz:
very nice indeed!
Comparing Android to WP is like comparing apples to oranges. WP is nice, boots up fast but that's it. Mediocre selection of apps, overpriced games, closed o.s. like iOS (cant connect a WP to a PC and transfer files. Everything must be done through Zune PC app) and the list goes on.
I'm very happy with my Galaxy S3: excellent screen, large amount of apps, can unload pictures directly off the USB, has a memory slot (on which I placed my 32GB memory card right away

), etc...
one thing though is that when using Wifi and lets say I stop using the SGS3 for a long period of time, if I use it again, it doesnt connect to the Wifi again. I have to turn the wifi off and then back on so it can kick in. Dunno if thats something in the OS (ICS) or a glitch in the phone.
p.d
having hsdpa plus (H+) is a big win for me.. this thing is reaaally fast, along with the quadcore processor.

Interesting look into why SGS3 looks the way that it does
http://www.androidpolice.com/[....]-designed-entirely-by-lawyers/
But at the end of the day, with all those parameters set, the actual designer of SGS3 is Apple.
