@alenn
This is, what many 808-owners have been dreaming of, Pureview 1 + 2 combined in one device with a more modern OS!
The software will need some finetuning here and there, as is always the case with new smartphones, but this will no doubt be the successor to my Lumia 920.
As the Netherlands are so tiny
, and no key market, we'll have to wait at least 4 or 5 months, before it's available here, so maybe I'll buy one in Germany, as I did with my first (white) 920, now my husband's, before I bought my current yellow 920, two months later, here in NL.

The daytime pics are great but the nigh time not as good as the 808. But we shall see in final production units. Compared to other Lumia's is very fugly. Also Nokia have made the mistake of not upping the battery. But i won't be buying this anyway. I got the money now but just don't want it. Bye

Not all 808 owners
Also.. I think you mean a modern UI, not a modern OS.. Symbian is in fact more "modern" than Windows NT on a system level.

I know
, that's why I wrote "many".
We have an 808 ourselves for almost a year now, mostly used by my husband, because he takes more photos with his phone, than I do, which is why I, from all our Symbian phones, still prefer the E7, for its formfactor, i.e. keyboard. I know several happy 808-users here, even though it was never officially available in NL, had to be imported and stayed expensive.
But I also know people, who would've loved to own a 808 for its camera, but didn't want to invest that amount of money in a Symbian phone anymore.
And I did mean "OS", as that's what we generally call iOS, Android, WP, Symbian, BB10, etc., not considering whatever (Windows, Linux, etc.) they're based on.

Sample pictures seem to have a very 920-ish look to them, noise, grain and that oil painting look, JPEGs look over-processed, I have to say 808's smooth pictures are more impressive so far.

Yup..
So, if you actually look at the jpeg processing, you can kind of see a trend.. all the Windows Phones have a similar signature..
It was the same with the N8 and the 808.. you can tell that both of these were from the same jpeg processing family, which is obviously different to the one they use in Windows Phone.
