looks like the image compression has been reduced, one of the 20MP images is more than 10 megs, seems to range from 6 to 10 megs, which is a good thing.

only took them 3 years to realize that........ never understand their obsession with tiny jpeg. Quality should always come first.

Size matters as well on the commercial product.
Otherwise we'd have RAWs with 20Megs each.

google is making that happen, so yes they do realize we do need RAW.

Marginal thing from strictly commercial point of view.

No HAAC mics for everyone except Nokia (and HTC, but they kind of stole it, lol).
But Z3's mic doesn't sound that bad compared to Samsung, LG... devices.

hi-tech mail's review
better than the z2
display accuracy thrown out of the window
trying to mimic amoled. color temp is an astounding 12000k. ideal is 6500k. while samsung worked on correcting their colors, sony destroyed their color accuracy in the previous xperias. well, white balance can be adjusted anyway. maybe they're just going for the punch this time. they might have noticed that nobody cared even if they offered one of the most color accurate displays before.

anyway, the camera is definitely better than the z2's.
here's an ISO 2000 photo. looking good!

that's good to hear. I really hope that camera software is upgraded when Z3 gets Android L. Sony really need to fine tune Z3's camera. The wide-angle lens seems to have helped a lot with the soft spots on photos taken by Z3 but the white-balanced (and exposure) still have a lot to be improved on. Since DNG is supported by the Android L, Z3's superior-auto mode can benefit greatly from this feature through elimination of extra post-processing of photos taken so when oversampling is done pictures do not look overly processed. Addition of regular Automatic mode in taking pictures is also welcomed. This feature will allow users to have the photos taken automatically up to 20 megapixels, similar to manual mode. Plus, comparing the shots taken by Z3 to others flagship phones will be easier. Besides, pictures taken using Superior-Auto should in theory be better than the rest except the pureview shots. Lastly, Exposure control and higher ISO levels must be added in manual mode. Android L's camera API natively supports EV controls so I dont see the reason why it can not be done. I do believe Z3 is a great phone, as well as the compact version, but its camera's software can be better. Have it fixed Sony and the Z3 phones will be untouchable. There is no other device in the market that have exactly the same specs as your 2nd half flagship phones.
