It's happening: Qualcomm is building fingerprint scanners that go inside your phone's screen, coming in 2018 ...
Sounds like the finger print reader will stay on the back until next year at least.
Me I am excited about the Note 8 but also Pixel 2 XL as surprisingly it might keep the headphone jack .
With the iPhone I am not certain how the file manager will work and how open it will be . I will reserve my judgement until I see it . At the moment I still have a 6s plus which works great - I skipped the 7 plus due to the lack if headphone jack so I want to see what else the new iPhones will over before deciding to upgrade

That is awesome news from Qualcomm
and another win for OLED displays, seems LCD phones will not be able to have that tech:
The catch is that Qualcomm's design will only work when implemented on an OLED panel under 1200 μm thick. That leaves LCDs out of the running.
One has to ask why on earth OEMs even bother with IPS LCD in 2017 when OLED is so much better now, even Apple are apparently moving to OLED in the next iPhone, another reason I am considering it.
I am waiting to get iOS11 on my iPad Air 2 later this year, to see how far the Files app goes, but if it covers the basics then I am happy as that's all I really wanted.
We are such Samsung fanboys Aussie ,look at us happily talking about other OEMs
such hardcore Samsung Fanboys.

Oh, look samsuck actually push update in an attempt to fix the lag in the touchwiz. LOLOLOLOL.

Samsung admits that their phones are laggy mess and needs an update to fix all the junk but their hardcore fanboys will deny it till their death. I guess "Not a hardcore samsung fanboy" who proclaimed there is no serious lag in the S7 and always sing song about how astronomical good S7 series is and better than some 2017's flagship is actually lying his asses again. I guess what really happening here is his laggy brain can't really pick the lag in his lagcity S7's phone.
As a bonus I'll post a snapshot of a few comments about S7 series phones lag in the droid life site -

Aussie have you received the TouchWiz Update Nodar is talking about?
I like the fact that they have detached the Launcher from the FW, seems they have modularised (is that even a word?
) a lot of their UI, I found updates even to the Calculator waiting for me.

Yes I have. It is good that Samsung the following Google example and is updating its main apps through the store- hopefully this will mean faster o.s. updates. One more thing that Xz premium is ahead of S8 at the moment is the fact that it is on 7.1.1 but the S8 is still on 7.0. My Pixel XL is on 7.1.2 !

7.1.1 did not bring anything major.

I hope Samsung skip 7.1 and 7.1.2 and go straight to Android O. No point in updating to each minor variant when we already get Monthly Security Updates.

But the point is that Note 8 is rumoured to launch with 7.1.1 so obviously the software is ready. The reason why I prefer Pixel is because of the up-to-date software. I also think that there are always improvements under the hood

We will see what the Note 8 launches with, I think this will be a similar situation to the Note 4 where it will have to be updated shortly after release.

That's a very, very bold statement. My wife has the S8 and the phone had to be exchanged 2 times since she's bought in April - the first time due to a burn-in and the second time due to the pink display. The third time was the charm - almost perfectly white display but the whole exchange was a debacle. Also the pwm is nice awful at times.

It's very bold but very true. I wish my iPad, TV, laptop and my work monitors were OLED.
Samsung need to fix their quality control on their S8 displays, they chose to do Curved AMOLED, they took an already complicated technology and made it harder for themselves, that doesn't mean OLED is not good, it just means Samsung need to jack up their QC process, very simple.
I have had AMOLED screen phones since the Nokia N8 and I am simply blown away at how far they have come, from being absolute rubbish under Sunlight and blowing colours way out of proportion up until the Galaxy S4 where AMOLED suddenly took a huge leap ahead of LCD.

I hope the on screen finger print scanner is ready by the time Note 9 come out...ill be due to upgrade by then.
Still better than certain folks who keep defending their dying brand that struggles to make any decent sale or profit.
