OK! A flash! That's a pretty normal issue when u have this phone and u spend that money on it.That's a loudspeaker all right or the speaker for the mp3s and rings and all the audible things on the phone.Maybe a small mic inside for the video recs.
The video camera has a VGA resolution (stated in the announcement) - i've seen a 7secs clip and the quality is awesome. It's here, somewhere in fist pages , as a link.Too bad it has 1,2MB for just 7 seconds WITHOUT sound.

And what is the good use of DIGITAL zoom???

Is it so hard to resize your pics in comp?
you just want tot crop the image and make 1 pixel to cover 8..

loose image and gain no quality??

if they planned to put the Sony so called smart zoom in....Then the digital zoom will be useless when you set it to 1.3Megapixel.

But I believe 1.3Megapixel is already quite good for general consumer who want to take some candid shot or some moment which they don't have their digital camera with them.

Even now when I am using my digital camera, I seldom set it more than 1.2Mega pixel.

Image 1 I believe shows a light meter for automatic exposure settings
Image 2 shows the handsfree speaker and/or microphone grill

Having had a detailed look at the specs I am very impressed with this phone. However leaving EDGE out is a major error (and foolish as the additional costs of implementing are peanuts), I know networks haven't launched it yet but it is simply a software upgrade which is on the GPRS evolution path. EDGE essentially changes the coding sequence of GPRS to give better channel efficieny and almost 3G like perfromance and will be very important for 3G infill in the future. I personally predict in three years or so the major operators will have launched 3G in all major conurbations and will be using EDGE for rural infill coverage for 2 reasons 1) It's way cheaper in terms of hardware (i.e. there is no requirement for anymore hardware) 2) The range of EDGE is comparable to GSM and hence gives way better economics for low population density areas.

Back on topic the S700 is a very, very good phone and is proving the growing convergence of consumer electronics... The digital camera only manufacturers should be careful as the quality of camera phones is getting close to the point where there is no need for a seperate everyday camera.

IMHO etc. etc.

What says it is not as simple to upgrade the SW of a phone to support Edge ? Or do you suggest phones requires dedicated HW for that (for some strange reason) ?

Is it possible that the phone uses UIQ version 3 which supports softkey based interfaces.

If so this may mean it is compatiable with P800 and P900 applications.

hmmmm
