I don't know about the GTA, but recently, I've had more problems with the network (Fido in Mtl) since the buy was announced...shouldn't it be the other way around? lol

just received my S710a today.
I live in Canada and a customer of Rogers Wireless.
This phone was provided from them and what is disturbing is that
In the main menu you'd have the service provider's name on top
of your cell.. for what i remember it was at first
Rogers AT&T which is old name,.. then it changed to Rogers but instead of it being in the middle it is on the left side.. Apparently Rogers says its not their network doing this. Oh by the way i'm not 100% sure if i saw Rogers AT&T first time.. Just.. possibility..
Please help! I'd really appreciate it if only i can put that in the middle.!
I'm not a perfectionist but it does make a huge difference before i can show it off to my frends!
Thankyou!

WOOO HOOOO NEWSFLASH TO ALL CANADIANS!!!

Rogers Wireless & Ericsson (they've had contracts totalling 5 years - including the changeover from TDMA to GPRS back in 2001, EDGE on the 850Mhz band since July 1st 2004) Have just announced Trialing begins NOW for UMTS/HSDPA!!!

Link: http://globetechnology.com/se[....]ogersoct13/BNStory/Technology/

"This trial represents a first step in creating a unique opportunity to offer customers complete freedom to use, view and access the information that matters most to them, when they want and wherever they are," said Rogers CEO Ted Rogers in a statement.

I just hope Ted's Marketing department truely shows people using this service for News, Entertainment, Contests with Entertainment, and for Wireless Data Services.

For those that dont know, Rogers Communications owns Rogers Wireless (Nationwide GSM/GPRS/EDGE), Rogers Cable (Cable, Digital Cable+TimeShifting,VoIP, Cable Internet), News Stations (FM/AM CHRY, 680News, etc), and Magazines (mostly womens mags). This means that Rogers Communications will be leveraging their bandwidth from their cable network for interconnection of towers - if possible - and network bandwidth.

"The services are expected to launch commercially in Canada in 2006." I'm guessing its July 1st 2006 = Canada Day (our independence day).

well, until the data rates go down, i won't be using much of it. i mean the phone plans are fine, but i still believe that the sms and data rates are way too expensive for more people to truly adopt them early.

I do hope you mean data rate prices, JwY. If so agreed fully! Now that CDMA-EvDO is available by BellMobility in two cities Toronto & Montreal; if they expand across the country quickly and its robust, then Rogers may be forced to concede their caping idea &/ their data prices.

Rogers has just recently 3 days now; adjusted their subsidiary Fido's network pricing for data. NO unlimited - some I got rid of just before the announcement arrg! - and $100=100MB?! Ridiculous.

I'd like to see more options for pricing on content or just plain everything access data here in Canada.

As for sms/mms >> I cannot stand how Rogers' MMS works - half-ass-backwards.
