i dont compare SE and nokia at all- nokia is well know for it's easy to use menu structure- mebber bcoz ppl have been using one nokia or the other all the time! SE has a lot to catch up in pricing it's models, and release new products tht are really new and not jus a revamp of an old one- i was ok with the P800-P900 evolution, but P900-P910 is something i cant digest!! it jus doesnt make sense! but then i've loved ericsson phones and i think a P900 is the best one i've ever had. i have an eye on the nokia 9300 and 9500 series, but they aint tht attractive for a change!

why should SE hold back memory slot when other phone in same categrory already hv it - 6230, e398.

i don't agree with ur point that people who buy SE prefer the MemoryStick over others. Only diehard fans would prefer something that is 50% price inflated and limited to max 128Mb - DuoPro. So I would see S700 as semi-crippled (wrt to memoryslot).
hot-swapping is a non-issue as nokia already supported it. size of the card is the issue.

time for the opinion of a die hard fan :
until recently i have only owned /// or se fones (apart from two weeks when i had a moto v100) i used to love the idea with the the t series that when a new one came out you would know it had all the features of the previous one and then some.
nokia never did this, it was like a pick n mix at woolworths!
i remember when the 8210 came out everyone went crazy for it, then i showed them my fone and what it did and they soon shut up!
as has been said before the only edge nokia has over se is the marketing department. if george bush wants to win the election i think he should borrow them!
now se have calmed down a bit since the merger they have introduced thier new lines , p k z and s, i think they should do like they did with the t series similar styling with all the phones in the particular series, but every six months or so release a new model with added features but keep the previous models out for at least a year so that each series has an entry level, a mid level and then its high end fone so people can work thier way up the series or across. the obvious exception i think would be the p series, i personally dont think any company needs more than 2 smartphones in its portfolio, just 1 for the business users and 1 stripped down version for the others.
se also need to open a quality control department when things like the t610, k700 problems happen word soon gets about and newbies will think twice about buying se phones simply coz they dont want the hassle.
as said before se really need to hit the 3g market NOW!! the same model fones released at the same time in all 3g markets worldwide to get people talking and i believe se will be a major player in 5 years time.
also am i the only one who thinks all companies should be releasing gsm and 3g versions of the same phone? i can see a lot of businessess going over to 3(uk) very soon because of the cheap calls, imagine if se made a 3g version of the p9 and it was the only available phone of its type on 3..........

seems like i hv presented so many points that Nokia has an (in fact a big) edge over SE. Havent read many serious points (backup by fact) that SE has an edge.
I do not agree that you have presented so many points that back up the idea that Nokia has an edge over SE. I have not read serious points about 'edging' technology at all.
Sorry mate but if you intend to referee this thread in that way I'm out of here.

You are contradicting yourself on this issue when you say that customers choosing SE over others don't prefer the memorystick to other storage cards. If the customer was sufficiently bothered about the memory card storage then I'm sure they would opt for a mobile, which supported the memory card storage of their choice, instead of buying a SE mobile.
The maximum supported capacity of memorysticks is almost certain to increase, already this has been realised with the P910, and I believe it will continue with the next generation of SE phones after the current one i.e. S700.
Price is an issue and one that needs to be addressed, but again, as it becomes more popular the price should hopefully drop.

How on earth is the nokia memory card hot swappable when you have to take the battery out? And there are 1gb duopro cards around. limited to 128mb my arse!
Also, i said there was practically no difference in the cards, but the

stick is hot swappable, so people who frequently use memory cards might consider this as an improvement over the nokia. I certainly do. To be honest i couldnt live with taking the battery out to change momory cards, as i change it a lot.

Ahem?? Nokia have been guilty of this for years. They have loads of phone models, in fact its on the verge of market saturation, all in different cases, while the contents hardly differ at all. The p800/p900/p910 are progressive improvements on a line, you say theres not mch difference. Compare a p800 to a p910. Not much different? Okay.
Nokia dont release updates and improvements, they release the same phone in a fancy new shell. Its been proven time and again.

@meths
Whilst I agree with you, I think it is a valid point to make that many SE fans have seen both the P900 and the P910 as being poor upgrades to their existing Pxxx device; personally I don't think it is worth upgrading to the P910 if one already has a P900.
I completely agree with your assessment of Nokia though, they do have a tendency to release products almost identical in specification to existing products, but with a few cosmetic changes.

i'm not contradicting myself here. the fact that memorystick is more expensive, lower capacity and more difficult to buy would deter potential buyers. This does not give SE an edge. At the very most it is a neutral position. (my opinion is pessimistic for SE)
Your other arguments are mostly "what if" scenarios.

I agree. SE has provided its users with options (through Service centers or on-line) to upgrade the firmware to fix bugs/improve the performance of SE phones. In the case of the T610 - T630 upgrade which so many Nokia worshippers have argued to be a minor upgrade is entirely different - it's a hardware improvement which can't be done by replacing the firmware, duh! IMO, Nokia probably found it a more cost-effective way to fix their bugs by introducing it as another model. Whatever their strategy or reasons, it's still us ending up like religious fanatics
