I think everything is wrong with Vodafone when you are not one of their subscribers!
I'm not a Vodafone subscriber, but I bought the V800 because I liked it as a phone. So, from day one I was trying to use my phone as I wanted to. Please, answer me, why can't I use every mp3 song I want as a ringtone and have to use the DRM packager first? Why can't I have picture id on my external screen if the phone supports it? Why do I have to tolerate a buggy f/w that they choose to put on the phone? Why can't I choose not to use the 3G network if I want to? why, why, why...
That's why noone wants the Vodafone "crap" in his phone. They might be goods for others, but when you are not a Vodafone subsciber, you'll want to get rid of them...
I respect your opinion, you want the phone "branded", you can have it like this. But most of us don't...

I had similar opinions on this issue as Johnny5alv, and chuckled as I read through all 15 pages on this. Anyway, I should point out that you can use your supplied V800 USB cable with SEUS to update to a firmware that gives you everything you mention in the quote there. No need to buy credits, no need to buy a T28 service cable, minimal fuss.

I'm "not" asking for all that. I already have them. I have R1X031 f/w, which I flashed into my phone with the cruiser dongle, after 4 unsuccesfull tries of the SEUS... I believe that I couldn't find a better signature than this one...
Edit: By mistake, I didn't type the "not" the first time. I apologize.

I did see a couple of people ask about how they can play MP3's as ringtones and is debranding the only way to do this... But no one answered this question I don't think... I would be inclined to ask Vodafone if they plan to have it work in the future...
Although i do agree with you that updating for cosmetic reasons only isn't worth the hassle, and I also agree with you that debranded firmware is not necessarily always better or even good firmware, the MP3 DRM protection is rather infuriating. imagine having bought the CD of your fav artist, having ripped one song and cropped it to ringtone size MP3, remember this is a song you paid for and is ion your possession legally, and then you can't put it on your phone and have to buy it again...... I personally think it is annoying that the 'good' customers have to suffer because of the 'bad' ones.
And yes you can 'protect' your own MP3's and have them play on your V800 just fine if you want and yes it's a very easy little step and takes only a few seconds.... of course
It's the reasoning behind it that gets to me
If you're not using a vodafone sim in the V800 you will have to debrand to be able to add new wap profiles and the like, it isn't a matter of choice anymore.

Ok, how do I update it with them? dont you have to pay?
Also, does anyone know of a bug in the z800 firmware anything to do with the headset? I connect mine and it keeps disconnecting itself, like if im listening to music it will play through the headset then the speaker unless i play around the connection, and the connection is fine.
