k850i = version with HSDPA and no EDGE
k858c = version with EDGE and no HSDPA, (Mainland China, b/c communism doesn't go hand-in-hand with HSDPA).

So the communist version is better suited for the EDGE networks in the US? McCarthy must be spinning in his grave so fast that he's generating audible frequencies.

Why can't SE standardized their mobilephone network abilities by having both 3G/HSDPA and EDGE.
Just giving a thought

cost efficiency or cost-cutting
maybe they dont want to pour in funds on both networks.. like they only have to give the unit to where the unit will be sold.... on HSDPA friendly skies or EDGE friendly skies.

What are you talking about? AT&T Wireless (AT&T & Cingular now are AT&T Wireless) have 3G in over 40 Markets across the USA.
They are the FIRST network in the WORLD to over HSDPA .... & Next month they'll be amongst the first to launch HSUPA! Read the news & if you think its bollocks ... then goto.
www.gsmworld.com
Here in Canada we have HSDPA as well BOTH networks on this continent run on 850/1900Mhz UMTS/GSM/GPRS/EDGE bands. HSDPA has been available both on AT&T & Rogers Wireless for months now.

^ this is the only one without 3G ... and unless someone with an actual K850i and with video capture to show me from start to full browsing shows me that EDGE is not available and the menu shows 3G is turned off OR if
states otherwise ... I'm not buying the FUD that the K850i does NOT have EDGE. pure FUD without proof to contradict. SE sites are always screwed up with specs on phones when viewing phones pages. But press release does not ... unless THAT is updated!
