That is most likely part of the reason why Sony will not make a quad-core phone this year.
Battery life is becoming more and more critical to a lot of people and LG and HTC are taking short cuts just to have a quad-core phone.
In my opinion it is not the ideal solution.

You forgot one important info that I left that "it's much more than that" Not only the active successor, how about the XS's replacement? We're having a new S added to the family tree.

2 gb ram, 13mpix cam and MSM08960pro @ 1.7GHZ could be enough for this year. I'm not taking SGSIII because it looks like it's just good enough, not a kind of device sgsii was last year

Walker did say that Sony Mobile is promising some exciting phones for the future.
“When the Motorola Razr came along we were shocked, it was a true hardware innovation. We will continue to focus on this with our future devices too.”

What is wrong with SONY
... Why cant they Shutup and Launch GX. Dont gve a F about XS just get your GX,SX and Mint.
Xperia S,P,U= Same look
Now Xperia S+,GX= would look the same WTF
Whts wrong with GX and whts wrong with X S [Both Look Awesome in their respective Design]..
SONY STFU and Concentrate on your Future Phone. Why You confusing us. Dont Dilute your Flagship Design.
Just Stop Making X S and Start Making GX.
