If they have so much features to be out with 4.4, then expect a new image processing algorithm with it. In terms of hardware, we all know the refresh or Z2 would only be a bit better than Z1. And if it would be 7-8 months until the next flagship, then I guess it would be a big step for both hardware and software.

Can i ask how you know this?

i mean whats your sources.. do you work at Sony or do you have a friend/relative at Sony?
I don't work there, unfortunately

but the info is from a very trustworthy source close to Sony.

You are saying that seeing that the refresh is not a big step forward in terms of hardware it will be a step forward in terms of software? That makes sense and if it will be as this I think that many functions will not arrive on the Z1 With the 4.4 update... To Keep a distance between the two of them!
Also... You guys are always well informed and up to date With all that is tech:P
Could you explain me the differenzes between AMOLED and OLED... If There are any?
I know the answer is out there in the Wild waiting to be found, bit you guys are better, quickier, easier and free

^I don't actually know either, but I did a quick read and what I understood was that
pixels on an OLED react to a single power source, while those on an AMOLED are controlled individually by transistors. I am not really sure how a single power source could control individual pixels without the use of transistors, so I'm doubtful of what I've read. But what I am sure of is that AMOLED is a type of OLED.

That may be the case, the screen will be better and the glove mode which I doubt will work on the Z1 and the supposed addition of being able to use an amp with the new "Z2".
But this doesn't mean other features like 4K, timeshift, tap to wake and whatever other software features are added won't come to the Z1, either officially or via the developer community on XDA

THAT'S SURE! You can always rely in the awesome community of XDA :3
No the glovè mode is hardware related!:) so that's a difference!
At the end ad HARDWARE the differences are
- 3300mAh battery VS 3000mAh
- 5,2 IPS FULLHD TRILUMINOS display vs 5,0 LCD FULLHD TRILUMINOS display
- Stereo Speaker vs Mono Speaker
- Glove Mode vs "nothing"
Thinking to this... Do you think that with the 3300mAh battery and the IPS display There will be a huge difference With battery usage from Z1... Even With more 0,2" screen...? The Z1 was really Good (weak in video playback and navigation due to the display? Amirite?)... How is the Z1 Compact?

True, OLED it's the simplest way to run OLED it uses a Passive Matrix to control each pixel.. same as earlier days of LCD displays...
Active Matrix in the other hand is the new way, and it's used in AMOLED ( the name AMOLED stands for Active Matrix OLED )... so basically AMOLED is an OLED with Active Matrix...
in Active Matrix, there's an individual transistor behind each pixel ( each sub-pixel -RGB- has it's own transistor ), and this is how the OLED emitters are being controlled in AMOLED...
In Passive Matrix, there's no transistors behind each pixel or sub-pixel... the OLED matrix is being controlled by the means of controlling voltages, it's like a table, when you define a specific voltage then you're actually targeting a specific row (Y), the target row will be selected and then you can control the column (X) using another input... there's another input that let you deselect a row or column, so when selecting a specific row, you have to deselect any other rows also so you will not control more than one row... same goes for column select...
OLED are harder to make, and costs more for mass manufacturing even though the actual cost is lower than AMOLED, the cost now is only in manufacturing in mass, the current methods are expensive, that's why that 11" Sony OLED costed 5 digits...
AMOLED is a matter of TFT in the back of the OLED to control each pixel, the problem here is that you have to make sure that each transistor is working, some transistors might be ignored (creating a dead pixel, or dead sub-pixel), and some might not.. sometimes even one transistor fault may end to the whole panel being a no go !!.. repairing AMOLED doesn't worth it as both the TFT layer and OLED panels are fused together.. fixing it will cost more than the panel it self... and when you consider how many transistors are in AMOLED ( a 1080p panel have over six millions transistors ) then you see how it's a problem when one of these goes faulty...

@CrownedAkuma
about the prototype:
Stereo Sound: Is is Louder than Z1? compared to HTC One? Is it clean or metallic?
Sound is subjective

More bright but more mellow (smoother bass) than HTC (about the same level of loudness) - for me its better than HTC
Shortcut: Is it the only one you have found? are there others in the quick settings?
almost every setting has a shortcut - BT to bluetooth settings, throw to throw settings, birghtness to screen settings etc
Status bar icon: with "they are chosable" you intend that you can select which one to display or that you can choose which style/shape the different cinos have?
Just choose whether to show gps etc or not
Status Led: I saw they hid it in the speaker... is it bright? Is it easy to notice?
Its top of the Sony logo - visible when facing the phone and halo from back
