IBM Thinkpad have always been sturdy workhorses...no doubts about the performance factor..but they tend to all look the same....and weigh much more than their counterparts like Acer, Toshiba, Fujitsu, Sony...which look so much more sleeker.
Not to mention....IBM Thinkpads are also not too price-friendly

mrao, i got the ATI raedon 9000 64mb one. my lappy came with the ATI 7500 32mb, but that was crap. then when the inspiron 5150 came out with the ati 9000, i somehow managed to fit that graphics card in my 5100.
p.s if ne one is plannin on doing the above i wud recommend NOT doing it. it was a huge pain in the @$$ gettin the ati 9000 to fit in my laptop,but somehow i managed.

But upgrading video RAM is a big hassle.....( if at all possible that is)...so ask them for a configuration which has the following
512 MB DDR RAM
128 MB video RAM (ATI Radeon preferably)
In fact you could ask them if they could give an AMD Turion processor...to go with the above config....that would be ideal

yeah has go for atleast 128mb video card, its not easy and actually quite impossible to upgrade later.

Hmm...it may not be impossible...but it'll surely be an expensive & cumbersome affair ( if you find someone willing to do it , that is) to upgrage your graphics card in a notebook.
