yea my frined has a $3000 laptop and its really nice (macbook pro). The sony vaio has better spec than the macbook for the same price, and I probably wouldn't use osx anyway (or I might try to hackintosh it )

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Better specs than a MacBook Pro at the same price.

The only other company I can think of that does Bluray in laptops is Samsung, but I think you'd have a hard time finding them in NZ. HP and Dell probably do them too, but can't be bothered finding out.

Nice. Not sure what you'd really need that for at the moment, but should set you up for the future.

What about the AW 35?

2.8GHz processor v 2.53
500GB HDD v 400GB
same $3499 price, not sure you'll get it for 3K though.

Yeah, looks like the 25 and 27 are being replaced by the 35 and 37 respectively.
Maybe thats why you can get a 25 for 3K?

Did you see the 27/37 are running 64 bit Vista and 6GB RAM?
I'm sure I saw a 2GB RAM version of the AW for $2300 a couple of months ago. Still had the 18.4" widescreen and BlueRay drive though, I think it was 320GB HDD.

I just came across this article which is about using the iPhone in New Zealand from an American's perspective. Quite good.

Also, I can't believe I missed this when it aired! Good job Clive.
