yea my frined has a $3000 laptop and its really nice (macbook pro). The sony vaio has better spec than the macbook for the same price, and I probably wouldn't use osx anyway (or I might try to hackintosh it

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Better specs than a MacBook Pro at the same price.
The only other company I can think of that does Bluray in laptops is Samsung, but I think you'd have a hard time finding them in NZ. HP and Dell probably do them too, but can't be bothered finding out.

Did you see the 27/37 are running 64 bit Vista and 6GB RAM?
I'm sure I saw a 2GB RAM version of the AW for $2300 a couple of months ago. Still had the 18.4" widescreen and BlueRay drive though, I think it was 320GB HDD.
