Z4 is apparently the most wanted flag among phonearena readers as wanted as s6 and g4. impressive considering the smaller update and that it is not a japanese site even if it is just a site poll (5428 votes):
http://www.phonearena.com/new[....]ther-have-poll-results_id69038 if they do all things right and especially with the bigger coming update and 1 year strategy then the q4 high end devices should easily further increase flag sales for sony outdoing z3 and z3c.

Almost all online sites poles seems to favour sony but in real life sony sales is not that great. Sony needs better marketing. Its hard to see sony xperia ads on tv

Some sites are reporting about a leaked Xiaomi and Huawei roadmap. The interesting part is that the Mi5 will be released in November with SD820. If true, then we might see the Xperia Z5 line in Q4 powered by SD820.
Those roadmaps reflects the plans of suppliers, including Qualcomm... so if Qualcomm failed to deliver it in time, they will move to plan B, which might be a delay, or another SoC...
Same goes for Sony, If Qualcomm will have a good luck delivering the SoC on time, then Sony will use it...

Phablets no more? think again. phablets share are increased by 20% since the beginning of last year, at least in the us:

mind boggling to me why sony is the only mobile manufacturer on the market to not make one in the high end segment until now. z ultra is a tablet with phone capabilities, not a phablet.

I hope they offer the horizontal 7 grid option on the next ultra too. I find it pretty neat

Agreed. Also their ads should be more energetic. The Htc One m9 ad is pretty tempting. They should go with that styl, not with people without souls and any sign of happiness telling they can... What is it? Smartphones for old people?

I think it's not about the ads. Sony's problem is that their devices are hardly available in 4 major US carriers which significantly reduces their sales.

ads do matter. apple has proven that. they make their products look cool and make it seem like owning one MAKES you cool. wouldn't matter if all carriers carried every sony model if the people coming in only asked for samsung, htc, or apple.
I rarely see a sony ad, let alone an xperia ad unless it is part of a carrier commercial doing a promo. even then, it's rare.

Esato was founded in the year 2001 and was mainly targeted at Sony Ericsson mobile phone users. We started with a couple of services offering free ringtones, grayscale logos for the Ericsson T39 and R520 models. We have expanded the service to include free color backgrounds for over 50 mobile phone models. Other popular services are the discussion forum for anyone interested in topics about mobile phones and accessories. Even if the focus was targeted at Sony Ericsson owners, we now have separate forums for owners of other brands. The most popular sections are the News, Blog, discussion forum, Free themes, free color backgrounds and a service where users can upload images from a PC and download a converted image down to their mobile phone.

Apple has completely different strategy where device itself almost doesn't matter. Have you ever heard of "iSheep"? That's not a good example. One of the Sony's problems is that they don't exist on the (quite big) US market. I don't think that commercials can change anything these days- HTC M9 is everywhere and it just doesn't sell. Sony needs to focus on such basic thing like avability of their products as well.
