AKSD : Some files do work. I can make the R1L driver sound pretty terrible but can only do so by gradually increasing the values in the 11th,12th,13th, and 14th bits. I can even remove all sound to the headphones. eg. phf_2_FM.apf and PHF_2_Play.apf are very similar but if I copy PHF_2_FM to PHF_2_play I end up with no sound through my headphones. This at least confirms my belief that PHF stands for Personal Hands Free.
Anyway, yes I have tried your beta driver and no matter how hard I try I can't see the difference in sound quality or volume between it, the R1L version or with PHF_2_Play deleted. I have managed to get excellent sound with a modified R1L file but the volume is too low for my liking. Try it yourself - change the 11th,12th,13th and 14th bits from 00,00,00,00 to 01,01,01,01 in the R1L file and see what you get. If your not sure what i'm talking about compare the 1st line of most of the APF files and you'll see they are either 41,50,46,00,01,05,12,d4,00,00,01,01,01,01 or 41,50,46,00,01,05,12,d4,00,00,00,00,00,00. These are the only 2 combos that I can make work with either version. Most of the files in the acoustic dir are very similar in content and structure. I note that the R1BC version of PHF_2_PLAY has a completely different structure to previous versions or the similar xxx_x_play.apf files. This makes it hard to figure out.
I would be interested to hear what results others get by deleting PHF_2_Play? BTW - don't delete all the PHF_X_PLAY files as you'll end up with no sound at all through your headphones.
Good night.

Hey AKSD. I been using XVI32 and can see what you've been changing. Clever stuff. Your beta driver is almost identical to orignal R1BC file except for the 1st line. You know what, by changing just 4 values in the R1L driver I can actually get perfect sound and perfect MegaBass - but it comes at the price of a lower max volume. So, I'm going to play around a little more to see what I can get.
Could you please post your R1L driver? No matter if it has lower volume, perfect sound and perfect MegaBass maybe are enough.

O.K. For those who want to play around I have posted 2 versions of PHF_2_Play.APF. One is the modified version of the R1L file I mentioned previously that seems to give very good sound quality and Megabass but at the cost of a lower volume. Download it here:
http://rapidshare.de/files/28118455/PHF_2_play.apf.lowvol.html
The 2nd file is a modified version of the R1BC file. This one still has some hissing in it. But, if you like to blow your brains out this version offers the loudest volume yet. Sure, if you push too far it will distort at later point than other drivers. And, like the original R1BC drivers - megabass is not that good at full vol. In fact i reckon this file stretches the phone to it's max audio capabilities. So, if you want LOUD and never really noticed the hissing try this version:
http://rapidshare.de/files/28117979/PHF_2_play.apf.loud.html
Just make sure you rename the files after you download. It's obvious what to do. I'd really like to know what you guys think.

Hi Mongoose U r right The 2nd file modified version of the R1BC file is so loud man its awesome but it costs u as u have to lower the volume coz there is too much distortion at high levels and the 1st one have lower volume but good bass and no distortion ......
One thing i noticed that in the second version is having a little hissing although not noticable. Thanks anyway for the awesome files I am using the second version as it has very high volume levels but one can always lower down the bass levels to suit their needs
Cheers

sk_k750: Just use a HEX editor. I followed AKSDs advice and downloaded XVI32. The rest you have to figure out yourself through trial an error.
TOSINV: Yeh, I thought the loud version had less hiss as well. Not completely gone but better. I'm almost considering using it as I like loud music. I've just got to compare the sound a little more to see which one I like best. I'm just wondering if the loud version may have too much of a tin can sound. But, I do think I am starting to lean towards the loud version for the same reason as you. i.e. you can always turn the volume down. And, when turned down to overcome distortion the volume is still probably louder than the original driver at max.
