"BUT you have to back up your subjectivity with realistic points. It would be ridiculous if you say a Ford is better than Merc because the Ford has a smaller engine (like those who said K800 is better because of its smaller screen ). "
This is the part that i am refering to.. you sound like i have said that "K800 is better because of its smaller screen)".
http://www.mobile-review.com/[....]onth=August&day=11&language=en
This is the news article on K800 one month after its release on the market.
dated 11 august 2006: instant success of K800
You should be reasonable lar.... V3 is already an old mobile phone.. it started shipping like last year, how come you compare that to a phone that just being released this year?
Have you read the article recently, where it mentions about the RAZR being defeated by Sony Ericsson in terms of its popularity?
http://www.esato.com/news/article.php/id=1223
That is the article few days ago i think...
so..you mention about nokia N series has push nokia sales right? i think that is not quite true.. i heard nokia sells 400000 mobile phone a day in india.. most of them comes from entry level, not N series.
What about cybershot and walkman branding in SE phones? that really really push SE's sales and popularity right?

I think the discussing is shaping up now. You present your arguments and I present mine – that is how a discussing should be like. Even though you’re right in that this kind of discussing can’t be settled.
I am sorry about missing the fact that you can update N73 online. You couldn’t when I had the phone.
- Gallery. Sure it can be minimized in the background but it takes up a RAM and applications like gallery you won’t keep in background. I didn’t and my brother (who is a proud owner of N73 don’t)

But everything is instant on K800 and that is what I really like. It is fast.
- Well we did take some pictures with a Sony Cybershot DSC-T9, N73 and K800. Of course the phones doesn’t even come close to the real camera but the colors on K800 looked more like the “real” camera. Sure the colors on N73 where more vivid but not true to the motive. Besides some details are lost on N73. It is not clear unless you really compare them though.
- I disagree with the flash. In lowlight conditions (twilight) the K800 took better pictures due to the flash. It is quite funny because Friday evening (it is dark here in the evening) I was hanging with my brother and his N73 and it annoyed him that every picture he took there was a lot of noise because of the low light. I did not have that problem because of my flash. But I agree that my way of arguing where a bit off. Sorry.

N-series definitely have push sales. Nokia has sold 4million N-series in Q3 which was up 50% from Q2. We do know as a fact, Nokia higher end smartphone sales (incl. n-series) has increased tremendously. Nokia sold 12mil smartphones in Q3 which is something like 18% of all sales. (just compare to SE which sold overall 19mil phones in same period)

All I am saying is that N73 has the capability to be as fast as K800. On the other hand K800 gallery is deficient compared to N73 and there is no remedy. One example is the album capability. In N73, you can create many albums for different occasions (e.g work, outing, happy hour, weekends, holiday) and taken photos are automatic sorted into album by just setting the active album in camera prog where taken photos are stored. For K800 photos are always stored in single folder. You have to manually the sort photos by time which is a pain.
If come to worse, for N73, even if you can't stand the built-in gallery, you still have the choice to replace it with another by installing a 3rd party program. In fact you can "replace" any built-in functions which you dont like.

Plain and simple there. I didnt expect it to be ahead that much of the n73.
You all havent mentioned the k800s superior ability to play encoded video clips.
K800 can play really high quality mp4 converted clips of up to 335kbs where as these same clips would only play sound on the n73.
One of the main reasons i picked the k800 over the n73 was despite the quicker ability to take pictures it also plays a bigger range of videos.
These mp4 clips can often surpass any smartmovie format the n73 can take.
And I do like watching an episode of smallville ect...on the way to work. LOL

Can you block selected people from calling you from a K800? Its possible in N73 through different applications. Its a simple thing, but damn useful in certain circumstances.

For ME it is better a phone... I had M600 that had much more fetures that my K790 but the wre not useful for me so for MY need K800 is BETTER than N73
Here you go again. I dont think anybody wants to know what YOU like or that you prefer a smaller screen etc. Different people have different needs. To be useful and objective, K800 vs N73 should be based on known facts without bringing in personal preferences. And OVERALL N73 is better than K800 based on the following FACTS:-
- N73 has stereo speakers. K800 dont.
- N73 has much bigger screen (40% bigger in terms of physical area)
- N73 has much better video rec than K800.
- N73 has bigger size and much cheaper memory card support
- N73 has better picture (according to public survey in M-R)
- N73 has better PIMs like unlimited phonebook, calendar and of course the very useful active today screen.
- N73 has independent voice dialing. K800 is still using voice tags.
- N73 has better blog system which automatic log your activities like sms, image/video taking, notes & calendar entries and later allow you to sync to your PC/blog. K800 blog is very rudimentary compared to this.
- N73 has Nokia mobile-search - customised yellow pages capability. K800 dont have this.
- N73 has PTT and EDGE support (K800 dont have this)
- N73 has much better multi-tasking (you can have any apps opened instead being restricted to java in K800)
- N73 has much better document handling capability (office docs, flash and pdf). K800 dont even come close.
- N73 has a much better web-browser
- N73 has better gallery/image viewer (slideshow with music) and album support (instead of folder based)
- N73 has better profile system incl. going to offline/music mode without rebooting.
- N73 has much better theme system - you can change most of the UI unlike K800 which is restricted to certain aspect like wallpaper.
- N73 has unlimited sms storage
- N73 has support for 3rd party Symbian apps
- N73 has better and more games and emulators support
I think he wants to know what WE think of the phone....because or if not he would see the specs in a moblie phone page but he puts the thread in the forum to know our expierences of the phone

Do you have selective eyesight? We are some in here who try to bring up straight facts about why we prefer the K800. I know some says we don’t need the features and how right they may be (I didn’t play much with the N73’s Symbian after a while) I still think it is not a valid argument. But I have come up with real reasons why I choose the K800 in the end. In case of the selective eyesight doesn’t repeat itself I will write them again.
K800 has a better screen. Smaller: yes. Sharper with higher contrast: yes.
K800 has much better keypad
K800 has better battery life
K800 is MUCH faster. The gallery on the N73 takes 6 seconds to load while on K800 it’s instant!
K800 takes better pictures. Yes if you know nothing about photo quality and thinks that lots of colors equal good quality you will probably prefer N73. You probably also thinks that Pearl Harbor is a good movie and think’s it is sad when Bruce Willis character says goodbye in Armageddon (even though the movie had zero character development)
K800 has the ability to update is software through USB and given the fact that all phone software is buggy this feature saves me a lot of trouble. The N73 also freezes more than the K800 probably due to a software error but on the K800 I always ran the latest software.
K800 has a Xenon flash. Yes it takes better pictures in the dark. It’s dark a lot of the time.
K800 supports stereo Bluetooth
K800 can be charged through USB
These facts made me choose the K800 in the end. Especially the speed of the phone and the battery which is something you will appreciate on everyday use. And I use my phone every day.
You do mention a lot of stuff which should make the N73 better but some of them does not even match the features is just mentioned.
N73 has stereo speakers. Yes - It has stereo speakers. Yes they work. But who in their right mind uses them? The only ones I know who listen to music on a phone speakers are small kids.
N73 is bigger. Yes. The pixels are larger and the contrast is lower and besides the keypad suffers greatly from this. My eyes work perfectly – I don’t need bigger pixels and side by side the K800 screen looks much better. I don’t use a LCD TV instead of a computer monitor. Sure it is bigger but so are the pixels!
N73 has a bigger size. Yes it is a shame for the N73.
N73 has cheaper memory. Only a small difference so who cares? What sucks on the other hand is that M2 only comes in 1GB.
N73 has better video. Yes it does. I really wish the K800 had better video.
N73 has both Edge and UMTS. Yes and it sucks that K800 does not have both.
N73 has PTT. This is no very popular in Europe and I can’t see the big deal.
N73 has more/better small features due to Symbian. Sure it has. But features like opening Excel, Word etc. on a phone with no touch screen is a sad waste of time. How many people edit Word documents on the N73? I didn’t.
So it is very simple. If you have no need for both Edge and UTMS at the same time and don’t really use Symbian then why on Earth would you choose the N73? It’s slower. Takes unrealistic pictures (if you want to make you pictures artificial you can always do it in post-processing anyway), has worse battery, is larger, has a small annoying keypad and bigger both not as sharp screen with lower contrast. It has no flash and will surely need to be updated at a Nokia authorized dealer (which takes up to 14 days here in DK).
On everyday use it is also very slow compared to the K800.
Trust me. I have had both. When all the glitter of Symbian wears over you will end up using K800!
funny how the fanboy mib1800 only answered to part of your great and incisive post

for instance, not a single world about how the "powerfull" n73 doesn´t have stereo bluetooth lol

Yes, no stereo bluetooth is a drawback in the N73. But i guess having that would have furthur pushed its price.
But i saw that bluetooth keyboard for Nokia, and it was really looking nice.

Huh Ares, I am surprised to see you conceding some points to Nokia! You say you use the K800i now. How about your P990i? You should know me by now as a symbian fan :D I bet you'll claim the K800i is better then the N95 too ;-) You are really a BIG se fan and stand by 'your company' no matter what ! For this alone I learned to respect you.
