Beautifully slim and amazingly proportioned. A hundred times better than the dreadful samsung's ultra slim editions. My only problem is the ugly keypad, it really is a letdown for me.

i can only laugh at this joke from SE. Walkman phone, positioned at music and doesnt have radio! Ridiculously placed fast port and an awful screen. Good going! And on top of that call it W880 when its worse than W850?

Yeah, no radio is a bummer Especially for a phone.

But I think it is a triumph that SE have managed to make such a thin phone with good dimensions which are not too long or wide.

For Sony Ericsson's first thin phone, the spec is not bad at all.

Next phones in the future which will be thin or thinner may hold more improved features hopefully.

What i would like to see from now is a thin flip phone, thinner than the V3 models

Come on

comparing specs of this with W950 given they are both slim (and yes, w950 doesn't have camera)... I'd still choose W950.

I can't see much point in this one except for club nights out perhaps if you need a camera and where it slips unnoticeable in your pocket, mind you, so does my w950/m600

Its not a big deal. L7 is also a very good looking and proportional phone

I don't understand people who are treating this as 'an upgraded W810' or what have you. Yes in terms of the number code it is higher, but it should be obvious by now that SE don't put much stock in that in terms of which phones are better than others.

The W880 is a brand new class of phone in terms of the SE line-up - it isn't a replacement for anything that has come before. It is catering for those who like their phones *small* and yet still like as many features as is reasonably possible, given those dimensions - without sacrificing too much battery life.

Don't forget this is a 3G phone! Most of the other handsets people are comparing it to are either non-3G, or much larger handsets, or both. If you want the extra features then go for a larger alternative that has room to squeeze them in. No EDGE may be an issue for US customers, but for other markets it's not an issue - and it helps cut down the size.

The closest comparable handset I can see on gsmarena is the Samsung Z370, which is again 3G (but adds EDGE), and is similar dimensions (112 x 50 x 8.4 vs 103 x 46.5 s 9.5). The Samsung has a marginally larger screen (1.9 vs 1.8" ), but considerably poorer resolution (176 x 220 vs 240 x 320). Otherwise pretty similar - other than the Samsung only supporting BT 1.2 (and no A2DP) and USB 1.1 (which will mean ages waiting for tracks to copy across if you don't have a seperate card reader). The W880 also looks much snazzier IMHO .
