Well i registered my details with them for this as i been with O2 pay and go for one year now. The deals look great i cant wait free Wi Fi and internet and only £10 quid after that. Im loving that. Only thing i think is odd is on a phone so high end as this why no mms. Very bizarre.

Was this on the o2 website? If so... it appears to be down now...

But fantastic news

Hi all,

Was just reading August's T3 which has a 3G iPhone review and it says,

"With speeds of up to 1.8mbps" "However actual speeds will will vary a lot depending on where you are"

Not sure but is this a iPhone limitation or down to 02?

Marc

I would take anything T3 say with a large pinch of salt as I'm sure they don't actually "review" products in the way we understand reviewing. They tend to just rattle off stuff from the official web site and/or press releases etc and inject a bit of humour and show lots of glossy pics

I'd suggest waiting for a real review

Hi Masseur,

I know that but as they are an extremely pro iPhone magazine i seriously doubt that have an ulterior motive. Personally i feel it is more likely to be a 02 restriction then anything else. But a lot of the speed comparisons of the iPhone are confusing to say the least.

I suppose really still the $64,000 question is can it be unlocked or not as until it can be used on another Network it will hard to know for sure.

I don't think they have any motive at all, they're just rattling off some number they read somewhere.

I've been reading T3 since they started even though its one of the worst tech mags around (stuff is only marginally better) but they do have good pics to drool over

I used the 3G Iphone last week, Google maps loaded as fast as HSDPA 3.6!
I was shocked at the download speed and just overall speed of the phone!!
I think it has HSDPA or some sort of compressing data browser.

@JK

We know it has HSDPA the big question is how fast can it support? as currently there doesn't appear to be a clear answer to that question.

Personally i think the 1.8mbps may be an 02 restriction and not down to the iPhone. Most devices now support 3.6mbps and many are coming out supporting 7.2mbps. When you are talking about double or four times faster at these rates that makes a huge difference well it does IMO.
