Of course you can change...via wotanserver for seven euros. You can install any firmware you want, you can even go "backwards".

I know, I did this with my current C702 on davinci, however, then I could only choose firmwares that corresponded.

I just been onto SEUS and went to update my firmware from 032 to 035 but it just installed same firmware again. Mine is on Orange. Why did this happen? Also i have started to noticed something strange. When listening to music sometimes the music fades out slightly or crackles. It does it strangely enough when the phones signal fluctuates. Why is that?

@bonovox

branded firmware always sucks

and you may not be able to update to the new firmware because Orange hasnt allowed it yet on their firmware.

you can only update once Orange release/approve it.

Oh ok that clears that one up then. The firmware i got right now is stable anyway. How will i know or how do i check for new Orange updates? Bit unsure weather i am experienced or confident enough to debrand. When funds allow i will buy sim free phone again soon. Just at the moment this phone was cheap on Orange and within my current budget. I hate the Orange software too though like i said its stable. So far.

Debranding using davinci is very easy. You can even download a guide how to do it.

I know its not much money but do they all charge regarding debranding? May try it soon really love the look of the original SonyEricsson menus its the best interface on the market by far. Used to love Nokia but now theirs is more complicated and messy. Really wanna debrand.

Debranding:

1: Change Phone's CDA with customize_upgrade.xml file
2: Update phone with SEUS to generic unbranded version
3: ?????
4: Profit

It is that easy, just wait until more experienced people have done it and CDA's come available. The CDA is just a string of numbers/letters telling SE which region and type of phone you got, yours right now says something like United Kingdom, Orange branded. So if you use SEUS now you will get Orange branded firmware. Change the CDA to a generic Western Europe CDA and SEUS will give you an unbranded version.

But you can always pay some company to do above for you and flash a generic firmware from their servers instead of SE.
