hey guys,

been following this topic for awhile, listening to the lucky few with the T68(i)'s. Gotta question that no one seems to be able to answer. I live in the US, which doesnt have much support for the T68. Why we get the best phones LAST, I have no clue. But, anyhow...where can I get the R2B025 upgrade when its officially out. I'm stuck with R1B w/ out T9. I've never seen a "Sonyericsson Service Point" before. Any help would be greatly appreciated....

Hey Rob...

All I can say.. yeah, it really sucks!

I used to live in the US, but I guess europe has always been a good test market for products... and 'after all' both Nokia and Ericsson have their bases here in Scandinavia.

Just a thought

PS. Remember that 'we' had the fax machine 4-5 yrs. before you in the states... but faxing really never became a hit, before the US started to use this technology. I guess some things are out here before, like you have many other cool things out before there too... like all the SONY laptop products. I really like the new clié PEG-NR70. I have always had a palm... but SONY just takes palm to a new level. SOOOO NICE!!!

Rob...

Try,

http://www.ericsson.com/about/worldwide/usa.shtml
or
http://www.sel.sony.com/SEL/wtc/customer/locations/index.html
(there are quite a few authorized service centers in TX)

or where you purchased your phone. Maybe they can do (or have done) the SW update for you when it is released. I'm sure you can have the upgrade equally quick, like others waiting for the release (on the EMMA servers).

Hope this helps a bit

Rob I'm in the US myself there are two places you can have a firmware upgraded here. The first is the SE service center in Minnesota but they probably won't have the upgrade for weeks after it's released. The second is a guy in Pittsburgh he is authorized by SE to do the flashes I had mine done buy him from the old one to the newest anyway you send him the phone and he does his thing and you get the phone back in three days I've heard that SE can take up to three weeks to get you your phone back. If your interested post here and I'll send you his email.

Noticed another thing recently..
In the voice recording menu, you see the meter where it's shown how much of the memory is full (it is like this on all software versions)
But next to the meter (on the right hand side), the number there isn't time left to record. It's total time that can be recorded if the memory would have been empty.
To check time left to record, you have to press the option button, then time left.... yep..

john74> Well.. don't know.
I don't remember how long recording time there was on the "old" software.
As it is now, there is enough memory to record 1879seconds, IF there is nothing memory consuming stored on the phone (pictures, melodies, themes and so on), So in reality, there's no chance to record 1879 seconds (about 30 min). Cause that would mean no pictures (there are 57 stored with the software (can be deleted)), no themes, and the themes stored can't be deleted.

Anyway.. I have about 15 minutes left to record (921 seconds) and I have 591kb left in memory.(71 pictures stored:) )
So the memory is quite a lot bigger, compared to the "old" software.
