to those who have already installed sman v1.4, do u uninstall the previous version first or just install over the existing one? and does it result in loss of user settings by doing the latter? or to be on the safe side i should backup the SMan.cfg and SMan.snp files just like what the manual says? because in this case its upgrading v1.3 to v1.4.
thought i'd check with u guys first.

You do not need to uninstall v1.3 to install v1.4. You can backup the .cfg file but the .snp file format has changed so you will need to do a new snapshot.

The good thing about this beta (and future versions of SMan) is that when you upgrade to the final release, you will not lose your configuration settings anymore.

The one side effect that some users have noticed is that if you had previous version of SMan installed in drive C: and when you install the new version in D:, you will seem to "lose" your Network Info and InfoStore data which is actually in drive C: and you will need to manually move the files across. My suggestion, install SMan in drive C: always.

Only thing you should install in D: is your TTF fonts.

Attached is SMan v1.4 beta 2, this fixes a problem in the Network Info module where the SMS notification section has a bug.

Please go back to the same place where you got v1.4 beta 1 to download the updated beta.

@baseballfanz try the my-symbian forum

@ajack I installed 1.4 beta 2 and it solved one of my problems and sorta solved the other. With 1.4 beta 1 I tried to set up a database for Network info and it would give me an error everytime saying that it couldn't, but the new version solved that. My soft reboot issue has sort of been solved. Before it would turn the phone off and that was it, I had to turn it back on manually. Now it turns it off and starts it back up, but brings me to the flight mode selection dialog. Should it be asking that upon soft reboot? I thought I read somewhere that this was supposed to bypass that.

The same thing happens when you change fonts. The phone seems to take a very long time to re-boot (I thought it had just switched off!) and restarts at the power on / flight mode option screen.

Very minor gripes though. Nice work ajack, Sman 1.4 seems much more stable on my branded phone so far

@bredator,

the flight mode configuration is in phone preferences, as is the password option (locks). So you can disable both options, and the phone will boot up without need to intervene.
