when i dial,it shows...connecting through wan miniport (pppoe)...
then it shows error 678...saying the remote computer didnt respond.i called up the bsnl people and they said theat i may be using a parallel conn...but i dont think i am.

check the dns settings, should be
DNS : 61.1.96.69
DNS2: 61.1.96.71

Start->Settings->Network Connnection-> Local Area Connection. Right Click and goto properties. Double click the Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) and check for DNS entries there.
the bsnl guy should have fixed when he set it up. typical bsnl.
