If Xperia 1 is "premium" and IFA flagship is "not so premium" then no 4K and no tripple cam is possible (maybe 2K and dual cam?).
Maybe it will have "normal" size too. I mean something about 5.5" and no more than ~147mm. They can even name it "Xperia 1 Compact".

Don't bet on it being compact, I'd guess 5.8 inch screen maybe. After breaking my XZ2 Compact I got a Huawei P Smart, XA2, XZ1 and now I'm getting another XZ2 Compact. I need a flagship device that is small, S10E is good but flipping £660 here is too much plus it isn't that small in reality. The XZ1 is beautiful but big for nothing. XZ2 Compact is ugly but ideal. I really miss my X Performance and its such a shame that a Compact is rumoured to be Japan only but if needs must, I'll be getting one from there. Sony is not One Plus that only has a single phone, Compact with the Premium and regular is needed.

I think the should make something like W395 just to test the market. As Limited edition.
To go against the feature phones of HMD Global.
Something like BlackBerry Priv but smaller, maybe 4.2" 16:9 + slider keyboard.
But not expensive like Samsung one that costs more than $1400 in China.
W395 was very cool phone.

X Performance and Galaxy s10e are exactly the same size. You can check at gsmarena. If you liked X Performance that much then S10e should be fine with you. It will get cheaper with time for sure...

But it's not a Sony though. I'm getting an XZ2 Compact for under £300 and providing I don't smash it, I'm going to keep it until I see a proper replacement. S10E is a Samsung and I find Sony software to be the best optimised particularly when the device gets old. I won't leave Sony until I run out of their options so you can't get more stubborn than that.
