So VodaCom got listed on the JSE this morning, and are being bought by Vodafone, will we see anything changing though? Eg. Data prices? Etc. . .?
...
...I thought they were only going to buy 15% more of Vodacom, which will leave them with a dominant 65% compared to Telkom's 35% of Vodacom. Anyway, that's what I also wanted to know, how's all this going to affect prices Prices might just go down in the long run seeing that Vodacom's monopolistic powers will decrease in SA when the overboard Vodafone takes more control of it. This should lead to more competitive prices, i.e, lower prices. Eventually, MTN, Virgin and Cell C prices might all lower in order for them stay in this race of maximising profit...

Jobs might be lost on Telkom's side though

Don't expect prices to drop soon...the reason Vodacom is such a tasty acquisition for Vodafone is due to their dominant position in the SA market, not quite a monopoly but all two biggest networks seem to have a "gentleman's agreement" of sorts...that they won't lower the out-of-bundle data rates to below R2/MB- which has not changed much since SA got GPRS.

yeah brix, you are right. Recently read that Vodacom's prices probably won't even be affected. Telkom's prices on the other hand should come down 'cos of Neotel...

The Nokia 6600 Slide is dead.
Long live the 6600i Slide. LOL.

Nokia's replacement for the (very recent) 6600 Slide is already unveiled:
