PhotographyBLOG a REAL photography site reviewed Xperia Z camera and gave it Recommended AWARD

Yeah, and they gave 3,5/5 for image quality... But it looks like Z camera has potential, that is being destroyed by bad software. Some daylight pics are very good and clear, while some fare really bad.

@Random
Actually I think that depends on the way you take pictures. I get better pictures from Superior Auto about 70% than normal mode with my Z, but I agree that there's some modes Superior Auto fail at, like macro pictures. They often look horrible when taken with Superior Auto.

Well yes but with Manual mode (right settings) Z can do a great job. If you notice IndianDawg's samples the pics are between 1-2mb in size. With Manual Z can even produce 5-6MB shots.

Pff Nokia 808 produces pics at around 0,5 to 3MB. MB means shit, the picture may as well be 1000MB in size, but it will be nothing if that 1000MB contains shit. JPEG compression means close to nothing if sensor is crap

The compression algorithm used is what leads to the final MB size. Like audio/video there are many settings and types of compression, depending on what is being compressed and what algorithm is used is the resulting quality. Unfortunately here we aren't given much of an option of what format/quality compression we'd like...

What's the point of dropping a heavy hammer on the phone?

It's alright for people who can afford to do that and waste a good device.
