It had has never been an issue, at least not for me, but has anyone actually noticced that there's been a considerable drop in call quality to MTN numbers? Just yesterday, I had to call back two contacts on their Telkom lines because their MTN connections were unberarable. What I don't get is: They're a very profitable company, why haven't they improved their network quality?

I have to disagree with what a lot of people think and say about MTN. I am not pro MTN (or PRO any network for that matter) but i have been on MTN with 1 of my contracts for 4 months now, and i really cant complain. I have no problem with call quality, and MTN does offer better deals on phones than Voda in many cases. Personally, the MTN anytime contracts offer me better value than any of vodacom's packages at the moment. If voda were to offer better deals on their topup packages this may change overnight.

@Rhino

glad you could come in as an mtn subscriber. I agree with you on better deals compared to voda but there are just major issues that bug me about mtn, like, poor network signal- believe me this was the major reason I left them in 1998. My little girl's signal is horrible and so is my sister's who's also on the same network.

As for call quality, they had a very superior call quality back in 98 that they made vodacom's mediocre. I don't know about now though but I'm more than happy with vodacom's. As a matter of fact, the only area I can fault vodacom is on their expensive contract deals and that's it.

@ Hintza:
Ya that was even in today's newspaper here; there was an article and a pic of some volunteers around the beached whales. Part of the article said 'near Cape Town', (although no mention or connection made to those Navy exercises) so I was wondering if it was more drama around Melkbos/Blaauwberg, but obviously when I read Kommetjie it was then all too apparent that it was a whole lot more further south/around the mountain, LOL.
