thanks bearcub24!

I got mine from my local phones4u, £342, genuine sim-free unbranded GSM model, at the time it was a cheaper price than my usual sim-free stockists eg Amazon, Expansys or MobileFun.

What are your impressions of it? I am not sure about 'gsm model' because it makes me think there is another model!

No sorry, by GSM I meant it was the generic unbranded model, yes I'm finding it good, my previous Blackberry was a 8900 Curve, and my works Blackberry is a 9000 Bold, the 9700 seems to use the best bits from both models to make a compact allrounder, although I do prefer the slightly larger Bold keys.

I'm very much considering the 9700 ... currently on the iPhone and I'm going to do a local trade for Bold 9700 if I can this week. Next week before Christmas (Merry Christmas & Happy Hannukhah to you all, btw), I'll get a 3rd Gen iPod Touch 32/64GB. 9700 does NOT improve on data speeds (still 3.6Mbps UMTS) but its a faster browser from what I've read across net/blogs/forums. OS 5 does present some significant changes. Contact Alerts, Profiles I've read is VERY different and takes some specific tweaking or getting used to for those that upgraded. Flags of emails is available but I'm unsure if its for BIS/BES or both. I really love my iPhone and for the first time I'm selling/trading a phone NOT because I want to but because I need to switch platforms for a job, lol. This is why I'll still get an iPod Touch.

Yes this thing IS going to be real. requires BB OS 4.3 or higher, install app on BB and OTA updates for the watch and MicroUSB charging.

Official company IS based out of Waterloo, Ontario (gotta love us Canadians, eh? lol, thank god I don't talk like that).

I hope this doesn't tick off anybody ...

Am I welcome to the club? Just bought a BB Bold 9700. Man the changes are SWEET!
No data or service in it for now ... PayGo only ... maybe in a few weeks I'll have my PIN up & running.

I honestly don't think I'll ever go to ANYTHING else any more, not Android, not iPhone (maybe 4th gen for secondary) but not Symbian; unless ANY can take over RIM in the corporate world.

Daddy's home!

Got a question for those of you across the pond using OS 5.0 on either Bolds. Do you have BBMaps installed and see the icon to use?

Found a solution everybody (regarding BBMaps on OS 5, specific to North American Bold 9700 builds) ...

http://bit.ly/7RhoRi
This URL provided by: j883376, and BekNazar - both from crackberry.com (who created the .jad file which the tinyurl links to) created a launcher app that loads the hidden BBMaps on Bold 9700 or any OS 5 FW that Telus, AT&T, and beta OS' usually hide.

BBMaps is golden!

Here is the link
http://forums.crackberry.com/f152/b...ncher-t-369440/

Page 3 has the tinyurl (I've tested this without having a month plan, on paygo, using the hotspot browser on 9700 to download, install and loaded BBMaps (BUT no map data is loaded, MUST HAVE BB APN on monthly service for BBMaps to work).

Hi Peeps,
Is there an app or setting on the 8120 that will allow me to see my calender entries for the day on the home screen?

With times etc...

Thanks!
