Are you sure you unchecked the Auto Brightness feature ?

it was checked, but I unchecked it, I then went ahead and dimmed it to the left and then back to the right.

Then something was wrong since the S4 is not nearly as bright as the Z1.

I don't know what was up with the Z1 but I hope when I get mine it is not that dark.

Then there must be some problem, Z1 is crazy bright. In fact almost ALL xperia models are brighter than S4 as AMOLED has lower brightness compared to LCD panels.

Just a quick heads up on my battery perfomance on my Xperia Z1. I would consider my usage to be medium to heavy use and so far I have never once paniced about the battery dying one my phone.

My average daily usage is-
approx 75 mins of call time
approx 125-150 text messages
checking emails
sending and checking tweets hourly
checking Facebook hourly aswell
browsing the internet upto 2.5 hours a day
the odd YouTube video
and just general stuff ie. playing the odd game, updating apps and so on

the lowest my battery has ever got to was 23% and that is having it off charge for 21 hours + before plugging it to to go to work.

as of now my battery level is 79% and been off charge for 8 hours and 12 mins.

@xperiajunkie...that is a very good battery performance. Anyway, I believe Sony is good at optimising the battery. My Z has a very good battery performance and I believe Z1 will be better. To be honest, I think the battery performance of Xperias are better than all other smartphones despite what reported by gsmarena battery test.

hmmm...based on engadget review, the battery for video looping test can last more than 12 hours !!!....much more than the GSMarena test. How come ?

Xperia Z1 SteadyShot test, vs Lumia 1020.
Klik
Very good stability, but quality is low.

Seems like Z1 is much more stable than the 1020
Is the OIS in 1020 turned off?
