While the IFA phones are being prepared there is always some room for change and Sony will be keeping an eye on the reviews at this point. There are people out there who will do extreme testing as well as the inevitable comparison to competitors so Sony is watching carefully.
If it turns out that camera gets too hot or some screen issues, it is likely that something will change and that could be a totally new sensor or making the phone thicker for heat dissipation. Now is not the time for rumours unless there are some phones to come before IFA.

in the interview, 'We misread the market. In X and XZ seires, at that time, we thought that affordable products with necessary minimum
feature will be selling well.'
funny. sony left behind in technology during X,XZ series, but did they sell in cheaper price? i don't think so. that's why xperia sales are dropped.
they missed OIS, multi camera, bezel-less display, storage size

That part of interview is bullshit. X Performance price is fcking expensive compare to it overall quality.

In my opinion the card that they play on - "multimedia device" is wrong. Who on earth cares about watching movies on the mobile phone? Why they force this?
Do people buy phones to watch movies on them? No way!
Then this thing they brag about - professional video recording? Do 99% of people need this? No!
Do people need 4K screen? No! It's proven that they couldn't bump their sales pushing the 4K screen propaganda at all.
For now, Sony should focus on catching up and following the trends because they are not trend setters for the long time now. They have to bring the sales back and come to position to lead the innovation.
Until then, give us 2K OLED 6inch, 4500 mah battery, 8GB RAM (10GB to differentiate even though it useless), best in class camera, decent enough camcorder, as small as possible bazels, and unique design (Xperia 1 has very nice design IMO, but should improve), best as always software, with as cheap as possible price!
What people appreciate the most and what we care about is this:
1. Great camera
2. Long lasting battery!
3. Sleek design
4. Speed and optimizations
Drop this useless things like DVS, professional video recording (?!) ... Do not focus on "multimedia" thing, probably only 2% of people need that.

Well, I was surprised to hear the same thing from some reviewers in Germany. We'll see.
To all those who want a Samsung with a Sony logo, just get yourself a Samsung.

My opinion...
Removing front speaker to cut 2 or 3 mm is not worth.
Cam downgrade for OIS is not worth ( Huawei and Xiaomi left OIS for bigger cam and got benefits)
Many channels have apps you can watch their stuff there.
For tablet and smartphones.
That is why phones are getting bigger.
Not because ppl need split screen function.
If ppl watch youtube on cellphone, why not TV shows and movies?
Tons of movies on Google Play to be rent or bought.
Anyone buying the new phones?
I just watched hands on with the 1 white.
It looks more than nice, the combo white glass/silver frame like z3/z4 is incredible.

Although I'm impressed at Xperia 1 with 'only' slight disappointment, I'm sticking with my 'precious yet incredible' XZ2 till next year.
Maybe they'll do something bigger next year (like how we always said it year after year).

If someone does not agree with the features of the phone, always is possible to buy an mid range of any brand you want, it is not an obligation to buy a flagship, unless you just want to brag without really taking advantage of their functions
