It's okay to haggle for as long as you are within realistic boundaries. Most people are a little shy doing this. And they shouldn't. Afterall, you know how much you can put in to the company. The benefits package is also a good indicator of how stable a company is and how it values its employees

@jackal - the airline industry is still not doing well. most affected are the european and american airlines. Still a lot of pay cuts and lay-offs. Asia part is doing ok, e.g. Cathay Pacific. aviation fuel is also expected to increase soon due to war talks. gulf air ba yan interview mo?
