I wouldn't want much of a smaller bezel on a new tablet (coming form a Z tablet user). Maybe on the sides, but certainly not the top and bottom (when held horizontally). I already accidentally tap the screen with my thumbs when holding it, and I don't have big thumbs.

This can be painful when you use an app that takes minutes to load up properly every time, and those damn action buttons are at the bottom. The amount of times I have accidentally Google Nowed!

so google benefits from all the small bezel?

I feel that Sony delayed the idea of 2K/4K tablet because of SoC, there's no new one ready for 1H... while they can do it with 800 they didn't thought of it in this way, they thought there's no new CPU, so thought why going for high-end while the SoC will be just a slight upgrade...

I think that Z2 for both phone and Tablet is just small upgrade... the real deal will be in Z3 for both of them... but I doubt Sony will have Z3 tablet... I feel Tablet is a 1 year product...

I think S800 can only handle 4k @ 30hz at most, it probably get hot and starts down clocking and everything will get super laggy. Smooth 4K@60Hz still too far ahead of current SoC. Best for every company to wait 2 years to deliver a smooth experience.

Exactly, this is why Galaxy S5 will come with both FullHD and 2K displays, the later will be powered only by Exynos SoC, no 2K and Qualcomm will be there for S5 unless it's targeted for mid-year launch where Snappy 805 will start to show up.. but I doubt that Samsung will make another version just for this, but I'm still wondering how they will get LTE in S5... currently every LTE enabled High-end Galaxy only comes with Snapdragon ( S4 LTE, Note 3 LTE ) as Samsung doesn't have LTE on their SoC... I wonder if Samsung finished the work on their in-house LTE Exynos...

they can use separate chip for LTE. Broadcom is selling LTE chip and Samsung buys bluetooth and many other chips from Broadcom

2k as in 2560X1600? Im sure S800 is still good enough for that at 60Hz actually. Probably fare better than Exynos 5 on the nexus 10.

Well there were already LTE enabled High-end Galaxy devices in the past with Exynos, for example the Galaxy S3 LTE (I9503). It has a Exynos 4412 and a Qualcomm LTE Modem (MDM 9215 LTE).
As supercoolman already mentioned it isn't any problem for Samsung to buy LTE modems.
And as far as I know Qualcomm doesn't have integrated LTE modems anymore, at least in my Galaxy S4 there's S600 and the MDM9215M LTE modem separated.
The only problem with Exynos might be that Samsung just can't produce enough chips alone.

Btw we're kind of far away from Sony Xperia Rumors
What interests me the most atm is the D6603, funny how much we know and have seen about D6503 in comparison.

I don't suppose there is any hints around of a return of the Pureness line?

A Pureness style tablet would be awesome. Transparent touchscreen area with slightly bulging bezels around all four sides which house all the wiring and battery etc. and a 'privacy' button that blacks out the back of the screen for better movie contrast and so no one reads your emails when you're on the tube. ...dreams...

@goldenface the image posted you quickly removed was a photoshop job of Z and T. An old fan concept. The UI was another give away.

I wish Sony had sparks of mad Sony in their mobiles.
A pureness line and a play line would be epic. Both would have compact, normal, ultra, small tablet and large tablets. One can dream.
A die shrink would greatly benefit both these lines though, so I suppose it'll happen next year at best...

What 4k debate. There is no 4k debate for smartphones...At all. The recent talk has been about 1600p displays for tablets in this forum. Outside of it, there is no debate. Tablets do benefit from it.

The 4k debate is the result of a few tech journalists lacking material and/or creativity, and some song that likes to boast about what it will have in a few years to land alongside what everyone else will have that time too.

2k screens. 4k screens bla bla. I don't see the need for anything higher than 1080p on such a small screen. Anyone who does simply wants bragging rights or has '30/30' vision.
