nah, nothing to worry about with flying. In the last 10 years I have done about 7 return trips a year from Australia to Europe though its calmed down a bit in the last year since I brought my family to UK until end of this contract. In the last 3 years when not returning to oz I have been doing the weekly return from london to Frankfurt. Never had a problem its just like taking a bus!
of course I am a pilot myself so perhaps a little biased
My hero for all this is John Travolta who has earned himself his Qantas first officer wings last year. Below is a pic of his house at Jumbolair which is an suburb built around a private airport where you can taxi directly from the runway to your house. In the picture you can see his own ex-qantas 707 and a Gulfstream business jet. All I can do is drool!

but yes i would admit that flying has got to be the safest way to travel.
@marga, at least it didn't happen 3 hrs into the fly,

yeah, I have had a couple of friends spin to the ground and a couple fly controlled into "cumulous granitus" (as pilots call it). But these are generally private pilots continuing into weather conditions they are not trained for. Of course it happens to commercial pilots too but much, much, much less frequently.
btw, Air China is an airline I would NEVER fly with, and I have flown with Libyan Arab Airlines and would prefer even them over Air China! My fav is Qantas, of course, and they have an fantastic safety record
