Hey guys. I'm really happy that I have been able to offer a couple more options. I'm actually really glad that some like the lower volume driver. I'm actually not surprised by this as it offers really good sound quality. After mucking around tonight I have decided to go with the loud version for a while as I really like to make my ears ring! Especially when I have had few drinks! But, I think there is enough choice now for people to choose their own preference. I think it really comes down to 4 choices now. 1) use the orig R1L file, 2) use AKSD's beta ver; 3) use my low vol driver; or 4) use my loud driver and send yourself deaf early

! I know my ears are ringing big time at the moment. Don't you just love this ability to play a little?

I have to add one more point: If you choose to use the loud driver be prepared to play with the EQ settings as you'll be suprised what you can get get out of the "loud" driver I have created. I've had a few drinks tonight and I must say I absolutely love the loud driver as it is really is LOUD LOUD LOUD! I Love it!!!!! - But hey, I'm a bit drunk at the moment. However, even when sober at work I thought I had created a good thing with the loud driver. Try it. Let me know what you think. I really don't care if you hate it. But let me know. Honest opinins are all that really count.

Hi Mongoose as O already mentioned the second file is awesome it really bangs ur head butu know we have to keep the bass very low coz it distorts a lot.Cant we make something that has such high volume level or a little bit low with less distortion.thanbks anyway for the superb driver
Cheers

TOSINV: - I wish I could figure out how to stop the BASS distorting. It would seem to me that too much BASS with any of the drivers causes distortion. I think it is either a H/W limitation or a something with the media player itself - which I believe is in the actual F/W. You'll actually notice that the original R1BC driver distorts bass at full volume. So, it can only be expected that more volume will result in more distortion. You, can tone down the EQ a little or just turn the vol down when a song with a lot of BASS comes along.
HAPPYKHAN: - The only thing I can think of is that you are not on the R1BC firmware. I have tested both these drivers extensively on R1BC and not had any problems. Perhaps you should run SEUS to update to R1BC and then try agian. You did only replace PHF_2_PLAY.apf didn't you? And, you're not mixing W900/w550 and W800 drivers?

@ mongoose3800
Yep, only your files and not the others.
Is there any problem with doing that?

I thinking there must be some software issue with your phone. No one else has had this problem. Can you confirm what F/W you are running. Have you tried re-flashing on SEUS? What happens when you put the orignal file back? How many files do you see in the acoustic folder? There should be around 90-95. If not I can send you the full contents for R1BC - just PM me your email address.

Hi, mongoose3800.
If you were to measure the maximum volume loudness of the R1L-modified drivers you made using the R1BC-modified version, how many bars of the volume setting of the R1BC-version is it?

KristianM: - That's a hard one to answer. It really comes down to your personal taste and what you are willing to tolerate. The Low Vol R1L is not that much changed from the original driver - I only changed 4 bits. I have done a little more playing around with the guts of the drivers but have not made any worthwhile progress - it really is guess work. Below is my experience of how each version of PHF_2_PLAY performs when added to original R1BC files:
Untouched RIBC: - Hissing/Static - Most noticiable at low vol. Offers best sound quality at max vol. Some songs distort with Megabass at max vol.
R1L: Hissing is gone, Distortion at max settings, terrible MegaBass. Does not match max vol of R1BC. I think it is more tinny as well.
AKSD's 1.2 Beta Driver: Hissing gone, Distortion still present at Max Vol, Megabass still distorts at max vol - may be a tad better than R1L - I really can't tell though.
PHF_2_PLAY Deleted: To me, the same results as using R1L or AKSD's beta Driver
My Low Vol Version of R1L: No Hissing, Max vol probably about the same as R1BC on 6 - 6.5 bars, best MegaBass performance.
My Loud Version of R1BC: This one is LOUD. This offers the loudest volume yet. But, it does not get rid of hissing/static. You will probably have to play around with the EQ and vol to get best sound quality for individual songs.
I hope that sums it up. I'd suggest you make up a small Playlist of songs containing songs you want to play loud and songs that you notice the hissing/static in. Then try each driver against these songs and decide which one you like best. That's what i'm doing.
