I have the W850i on O2 and have noticed the following annoyances

- When pausing a track in the walkman, exiting, entering then skipping (or sometimes I don't even need to exit and re-enter) the track will start at whatever time it was already through the track (this bug was mentioned earlier)
- Display light randomly dimming and lighting up, I think I read that this is an adaptive feature responding to light levels. I find it rather annoying and wish it could be disabled
- Keylock being worthless. The two buttons are very exposed and it's quite easy for the phone to "roll" in your pocket across them, unlocking the phone, then if it happens again you call the last person on your list. An option to disable them (ie only having the slider to unlock the keys) would be immensely useful.
- Some option to increase the time before the phone standbys to the clock/backlight dimming would be useful, it's quite annoying at the moment as it only takes a few seconds, so often whilst reading texts it'll go to the clock
- Bring back the standby-light-clock-button! It was so useful!
- Work out why it sometimes crashes and resets itself in the walkman player, its done it to me a few times but I've never managed to work out why (ie its not the music files as when I do exactly the same thing again it's fine).
- Add a search by first letter mode to the Walkman Playlist, you can do it in the music library but in the playlist it only works by the number it is in the playlist

Does anyone know if these actually go somewhere? Does anyone from SE actually look at these?

Has anyone else noticed that the latest firmware (R1KG001) has a major reduction in the battery life from R1JG001?

My phone now needs charging twice as often. I'd avoid 'upgrading' to R1KG at the moment.

I think you're right. Battery life seems to be somewhat reduced... and I thought it was only me and nobody else would notice it

I recently tried to upgrade my 02 branded W850i via SEUS to the latest R1KG001 but seem to have a number of niggles with this...

The actual update stuck at 97% and never completed. - Now, the screen becomes intermittantly dark and dimmed - so it is increasing difficult to read texts, who is calling etc.

I am just wondering whether the 2 are related?

Or is there any ability to rollback to a previous firmware version?

Yep just had my W850 back after it died randomly when the battery went dead and woukld refuse to be turned on (it wouldn't charge properly either) and its got the new R1K firmware and definitely seems to be shorted battery life

Hi,
My w850i doesn't have sound when i talk on the phone so i now talk on speaker phone(which is incredibly annoying!!). I ran the test that involves the * etc buttons and did not get to earpiece to work (everything else did). Can i get this repaired? If so, where from and how much?

Hie everyone.. I'm new in this forum.. I've just bought a Sony Ericsson W850i few days ago.... i cant set the personal ringtone to my contacts, but the picture caller ID just working fine........... I've rebooted, restarted, master reset, and also change the song from memory stick to phone memory... but it still doesnt have the personalised caller ringtone when my contact (eg. brother) is calling me..however, his picture shows..

Anyway, i have tried to set a persona ringing tone to my office contact... and surprisingly, it works!!!!!!!! the picture as well as the personal ringtone appears, working properly....... weird weird weird...

i used the same song for my another close friend as his personal ringtone, but this time failed... again, only picture shows, but not the personal ringtone....

I've tried to update my software and it shows that is updated and is the newest version....

so, anyone out there can help??? plsssss....................

Do you think the battery life is reduced, or is it just that the indicator is more accurate? With previous firmware it seemed to stay at 100% for much longer, but then dropped suddenly. Now it goes down more evenly.

Yesterday I had the problem the when sliding open the phone the keylock wasn't disabled. I had to do this manually. Also when sliding back, the keylock wasn't enabled. Now it works flawlessly again?!?
Anyone else had this? (firmware = R1KG001)
