Doesn't really matter if it's more than manual settings, I've yet to see someone using it as a film camera. Besides, if they are serious about video they should at least upgrade the OIS and give better stabilization. Sony has sharpness going for it and it'd come handy using it with a gimbal but for those who want better stabilization without an external tool, they should offer it in regular camera settings.
Price could be anything, but they should make people believe that price is right for what they are getting. Sony can't do this, especially in midrange segment.
Sony used to use their sensors in multiple generations, they don't have the luxury this time imo. They caught up to the industry just when it's moving towards bigger sensors. Have you seen the 108MP module next to a 12MP. That looked insane. It is time for Sony to have huge curved sensors with simple lens design so it'll have great image quality without protrusion. Or if they want to stay less costly, enlarge the sensor. Midrange 48MP uses 1/2" now. If nothing, they should ugrade OIS and use Exmor for all focal lengths. A more capable front cam could also be cool.
I read that phonearena article, it's suspicious that they only used portrait mode in low light. Samsung is garbage, yet they still have nice things to say. Only if it was a Sony...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nM0v4Q6Iz8I here's a random comparison. 11 does better imo, pixel is great but 4 is not as exciting as previous gens were. If we take random content seriously, then that Japanese video showed 5 beat 11. Regardless, 11 gets praise for its video capabilities from everyone. Sony should one up all these. They have the resources.
Agree with basically all of this. Sony can do better. they have the expertise to do so. I'm still convinced they are limiting themselves as to not harm their camera department sales.

There is no more to conserve in the camera industry. The mobile industry has taken up all the cash that the camera industry has.
If there something to blame here, that is Sony's internal affairs afaik.

you just contradicted yourself. camera industry is not dead by any means. it's alive and well and sony is crushing it in a lot of areas that could be translated in some manner, to the mobile world. but they won't. since that tech is exactly why they are getting sales in the camera world.
internal affairs is preventing them from truly sharing tech.

It may not be dead but the camera industry has shrunk so much that it isn't even a quarter of the mobile industry.

Casual photographers use phones for convenience and also being able to share photos online while you can't do that with a camera. The camera market is for photography enthusiasts, high end camera and video.

Obvious that X1/X5 will never give same video quality of an A7 iii.
Alpha has almost twice the bitrate and hardware advantage.
But Cinema Pro is a nice tool to learn about videography
Luts are not available for Alpha.
Even PA likes a lot the quality of the HDR 4K.
More than enough for youtube or home productions.
I hope they make a version for midranges.
Cinema Pro needs edition tools.

Nodar? AKA ADIDA. My hunch is a better leakster than this guy. 1.7 1.5? These been in rumors for a while. 1"? Saying highly unlikely would be an understatement.
