Many thanx, Tahir, that's a sweet deal. I'm not sure if they have a contact here in PE tho. Anybody perhaps have a contact number for them? That deal sounds sweet...

Just got an IM via Yamigo from the Wireless Monkey informing me that he's taken possession of a W800...only snag is the software for loading music onto the phone seems to be only compatible with the OS from the Evil Empire(Microsoft) which is hard to swallow for an Apple enthusiast.

Pity about that, although one would assume that a means to circumvent that obstacle would be found, given time... Speaking of Evil Empires, hope that ICASA pounds some sense into Vodacom and MTN.

Mac users will have to wait a wee while for compatible software but it ill come. With all the snags I still think the W-series are better phones/music players than the range of iTunes phones which have recently surfaced on the net.

Can't help but wonder whether we'll ever see any real competitiveness in the local cellular arena... I'm hoping it's in our lifetime, but i'm not holding my breath...

ICASA is gonna make it worse for consumers looking for high end phones!!!
your call rates and monthly subs will decrease yes, BUT you gonna be paying around R1300 - R2000 for a decent phone!!! + WITH ICASA probe they want to ban SP's support system, which will make it worse...
i wonder how consumers looking for 9500s and i-mates gonna react???
ps bundled free minutes could also disapear/decrease!!
but we shall see....

According to The Herald this morning, Vodacom gained 1.72million customers from April to June, bringing their total to 14.5 million subscribers. Not shabby... Mtn announcing their figures tomorrow...
