Well, I do hope they have something good in IFA! Would be tempted to get the Z3+ if I hadn't already ordered an Asus Zenfone 2 to replaced my shattered Z1.....

^The Z3+ is just an interim device to have something "new" in stores for spring and summer period. Rumors has it that Sony will go all out at IFA with 3 new high-end phones. Regular sized (5-5,5") along with Compact (4,7-4-8") and Ultra (5,7-6,2").
But if they announce all 3 flagships at IFA.... then what will they announce in CES or MWC next year?
Another new flagship? or we will see the interim mid-year upgrade like the Z3+?
I would prefer to see them releasing these 3 different sizes flagships at different quarter rather than announce all of them at the same time.
They should at least keep some cards for later time. Announcing 3 flagship devices just for the second haft of the year might not be a good idea.
Look at the S6 and S6 Edge, in my opinion, they are actually cannibalizing each others.

If the following devices hold true
E58xx - Next compact
E66xx - New flagship
E68xx - New Phablet
Then these will be released this year and then perhaps only a processor and some other minor spec bump in 2016?

That's bad news. IFA means no SD820.
I don't think that is correct. They can present the phone at IFA then release it in November. Qualcomm is desperate for SD820 and I think they will do their very best to be punctual for the production of SD820.
By the way we'll see Z5 naming or some other name for Q4 devices.

well, why would Qualcomm be desperate? is there any worthy and successful competition at this point of time?

^If they spoil things up once more Samsung may easily dominate the market. Mediatek is gaining ground, they just need to improve their GPU. So yeah there is competition.

Maybe 2 of those are the T Ultra's Successor and the Lavender?
the E68xx will be the new Phablet?

@stedus
These official model numbers indicates for main, phablet and compact in late second half. it is not a rumor. they could cancel all or some of them or change the naming scheme but it is not likely to happen. e is for 2015 and each number combination is the known code for the type of device variant.

E55xx - Lavender, the others are based off the current and previous models, D and C years. Of course nothing is 100%, all speculation based on past devices.
But these are all slated for this years, unless they are cancelled like amirprog mentioned.

Yes they must be! At The low-end they have been pressured heavily by Mediatek. MT is moving higher and higher. At the high end their biggest customer, Samsung, dropped SD810 and used their own solution. HTC's One M9 isn't selling well at all. LG's new flagship is using SD808. SD810 has a bad name by now. Xiaomi is rumored to wait for SD820 and release it in November. My guess is that Qualcomm is desperate to get the SD820 right and delivered asap.
