MTN is not GPRS-enabled here o. And Glo GPRS coverage and service can be such a nuisance. The other 2 networks have been launching GPRS since last month, but no-one anyone knows is using it.
Maybe in another couple of months things will be much better.

@AYA: What's their reason for not having GPRS? Any issues with power supply or are they just being stingy?

Hi guys, my name is Amby, new user just registered today. Point of correction Aya, Vmobile doesn't offer GPRS yet, what they have is a CSD connection that is charged at normal voice call rates which makes it rather expensive, this explains the low patronage. I personally believe that Vmobile is still firmly in 2nd place ahead of glomobile in terms of subscriber base and coverage.

Why, why do you say so? I have just effectively left econet for glo. Though I still retain the econet number as i have used it since the company launched.

I didn't say that they do not have CSD. However Vmobile told us that they would be launching their GPRS service in April. Last time I checked, we are in May, hence my comments that they "have been launching GPRS since April". Don't take it literally
If you have a Vmobile SIM and a handset that can detect GPRS presence on a network, you should notice as you move around that GPRS is available on Vmobile at various locations, but its not attached for use.
Also, about subscriber base and coverage, my statement was not based on what I believe but documented statistics.
@brix25: Honestly, I cannot tell why MTN is lagging behind in this area. But the average Nigerian will readily say that its because they are stingy

@Ambyzown, AYA is right about Vmobile's GPRS presence, infact i noticed it sometime January this year on a friend's Vmobile line on his Sagem Myx-5m set, i almost bought a vmobile line then, before i now went for glo, what i dont know now is why the delay in activating it.

My apologies Aya, I just turned on GPRS reception on my Vmobile phone and immediately got a signal. Can't wait for them to begin offering this service, I think they'll do better than Glo. However, I still maintain my stance on subscriber base and coverage. I should know, I travel a lot. Did I hear anyone say welcome?

Does anyone have current stats on subscriber base for the gsm companies.
Is there software one can add on to a p910 that will let it run FM radio. I know there is an add on kit. I am wondering about software...
Still not happy with glos GPRS
