where are you random?

as long as it looks great to me within the fairly small viewing angles that i want, i'll be happy. i'm coming from the XS, which has a fantastic screen. So, if it's better than the XS then I'll probably be happy since I've never had a Z.

As far as yellow tint, I have heard that. I would say it's only an issue if it's a blotchy tint that occurs in different spots on different phones. If it's a consistent tint over the whole screen, it's simply a color calibration issue, which can be fixed with software (there's an app for that). that being said, it doesn't seem like a major issue as i haven't heard or read many points about it when poking around doing my own research.

Hopefully, i don't have that issue at all!

@moogoo

I'm in India. We get the C6902 model.

I'm not suggesting there is a panel lottery as on XDA so far everyone has reported only SHARP panels, but there is definitely a major QC issue in the first batch or probably a QC issue in the Sharp factory ?

There is a huge difference between panels, which shouldn't really be there.

As far as comparison with XS, even the worse Z1 screen is slightly better than the S (slightly less saturated though) and the better one will simply blow the XS screen out of the water

@randomuser

ah good to know.. well i'll see if i am blown away or just slightly impressed! sadly i have to wait til tomorrow.

in any case, i'll have tons o fpics. i'd be itnerested to know if anybody with the yellow hue "issue" can simply fix it using a color temp calibration app from the play store.

Called fedex again this morning cause I wasn't going to wait on handtec to get off their lazy asses to do it in a timely manner (i mean they start work at 10am! who does that?). FEDEX says the delay is caused by the fact that the shipper failed to submit a WATCH REPAIR DECLARATION. I was surprised because i didn't expect the smartwatch to come with the Z1 (but not complaining). So, I asked them more about it and they said any watch that is imported into the US requires this form to be submitted. I explained that the "watch" wasn't a watch, but a bluetooth accessory that's worn on the wrist LIKE a watch. It can tell the time, but it is no more a watch than a cell phone is a watch. They accepted my explanation and said it should be good to go from FEDEX over to US Customs (so all this was apparently FEDEX requirements and not US Customs). It should be delivered tomorrow.

Oh man!

if i'm not happy with the device, i need to send them a mail via post, (in 10 days time).
then, after they will get the mail, they will send me another letter, with the conformation.
then i will have 10 days, to send the product to them.

so i will have to pay, the first shipment.
then i will have to pay the recommendation letter (6euro)
then the shipment to them...

they we give me the money for the product after 30 days from the recommendation letter.

OH MAN!!

Sounds like really meaningless procedures.
I really hope you bith get the good screen.

I still have to wait to see when it releases in Japan, I guessed mid October back in July if I remember well.
October is approaching...
At least I will try it in the store now that I know of the screen lottery (and compare with Fujitsu & Sharp).
I am also concerned of the talk about the camera and issues on reight side for some people.

Does Sony outsource the assembly, and to whom, or have their own factory?
If they have to fight for ressources against apple at Foxconn, they probably don't get the attention they need, but this is just a supposition.

I think I am also going to wait out a month or so until Sony releases a bunch of firmware updates (there is a big one coming according to Xperiablog like power management) and hopefully get a quality screen. T-mobile should also have the phone by November (I hope) and it would be great if Sony USA sold it through its website unlocked. Until then I am going to keep rocking on this x10a which surprisingly still feels fluid most of the time on 2.3

After scrutinizing my test shots and taking a few new one. It seems like it may really be a hardware issue. The blur happens exactly on the right of focused area, and the bluring happens in two other camera apps aside from SONY's original one. Not too happy about this defect. Most likely I'm going to send it back for a refund..... It's a pity, actually took a liking to the Z1.

I have just powered up all of the Xperia Z1's in my store and that is 6 of them and all screens were top quality it is the c6903 version we have here in the UK. My own Z1 screen is superb no wash out unless at extreme angles the black are inky black and the whites are pure white too and that was the same for the other 6 no issues here so far we are very impressed.

It may be software bug also. Android 4.0 and later Sony camera drivers working over third-party applications and got same results everywhare
