Does that means Z5 will use sd 810? If so, will it be a revised version or same as z3+?

why?

The Snapdragon 820 processor is expected to begin sampling in the second half of 2015.

Sampling does not mean it will be available for full scale production. The 810 also started sampling in the 2nd half of 2014 with more concrete info coming in December of 2014 and the first products came in January of this year and then february and so on. If 820 follows this pattern, CES is the earliest for the new chip and then more models at MWC.

Can only guess that the Z5 will come with 810, hopefully an updated version or at least Sony working with Qualcomm in order to tame the beast.

For me the camera is one key part of the new Z but I am not sure if Sony will deliver. We hear every year they will but it never proves to be as good as promised.

If we presume the next flagship will have the IMX230 sensor (21MP), what are the chances we will see a larger aperture of f1.9 or f1.8?. I feel I read somewhere (either here or xda) that lager sensors like 1/2.3 or 1/2.4 and larger apertures are hard to manufacture for phones. I know there are full frame sensors with f1.4 or f1.2 lenses but not in a super slim, less 1 cm package. Samsung has f1.9 and 1/2.6, and LG has f1.8 and 1/2.6, but both sensors are smaller than Sony's 1/2.4. The difference between the current IMX220 and IMX230 in size is quite minimal. so I am not sure why Sony went forth and developed the IMX230 as a 1/2.4 and not a 1/2.3. Maybe if the size differences are so small, the image quality difference might be negligible?

Interesting enough, the IMX240 and IMX234 according to wiki are not 4:3 but 16:9. I thought the IMX240 was a 4:3 like the 230 but only at 16MP, so I am confused right now.

Well, both are very very sad news... I hope your source is wrong... or at least something new will come and change this...

BTW, I don't expect Sony to be one of the early adapters of Type-C, for one main reason.. they will wait for a water proof version to come, or they will go back to flaps again...

huiyi says:
I heard the news of the Z5 will be released in 2016 CES. IFA couldn't have posted!!

No Z4C.. Z5C has, this specification, almost Z5C..

No Z4Cpmpact no z4 UITRA!!

4 is probably known specifications. CPU 8994, sensor 2070! 1080P.5.2 inch display is the international version! US version of the display is QHD! IP6 / 8!

TBH, I don't really care much about CPU anymore. My relative's M4 Aqua is just a mid-ranger, but its working fine.

If Sony can deliver the right values + reasonable price, it would be ok for them.

And also, they should forecast their sales correctly to avoid overstocks.... this might help them to improve Sony Mobile's financial performance.

The leaked product codes show at least 4 more models that have not been accounted for, unless they have been cancelled but I doubt it.

Z5 delayed to 2016? I don't think they can compete with SD810 anymore (there were rumors that "project zero" is going to stay on the market for a year).

1. Xiaomi plans to release their new flagship with 820 this year in November so it may not be delayed like 810.
2. There will be no updated 810. 620 maybe?

Z5 will release this year, but with S810 or S810v2 whatever you want to call it
RAM bumped up to 4GB.
