Successfully converted an AVSEQ01bh.DAT to video using M3 and transferred the resulting file to my Sony Ericsson P990i. Only to find out that the video plays but there is no audio.
Does any one have a solution to this problem? Could it be with the audio settings on M3?

Found a bug
If a filename has [ ] in it, the program doesn't correctly escape these when passing the filename as an argument to dgindex.exe, causing an error message.
Escaping is necessary as dgindex.exe uses [ ] around arguments of filenames.

Hey, I wonder if anyone can help me as I'm new to this? I've just bought a M600i which came with a promotional 512 mb memory stick complete with 2 movies in .mov format. After watching these i obviously gained the impression that it was possible for video play back through my M600i, i have tried different programs such as imtoo, super, and acala, the latter i found to be the most succesful in converting avi files into the only files that seem to work on my phone, being 3GP, although occasionally i found some of my AVI files did not work even when made into 3GP on my phone?
Working at the same file size as the movies on my promotion card i would idealy like to convert 700mbish avi files down to around 150mb with still decent quality viewing.
On futher research i found the program used to produce the files on the card was mobiclip, but getting hold of a working mobiclip that also works on my m600i i have found almost impossible as the Symbian UIQ player i attempted to install onto my phone would always say error. I also tried a program called sony ericsson media studio demo which out of everything so far has worked the best allowing zooming and cutting of the wide screen bars, fast conversion, low file size and decent quality imagery.
What i wanted to know was whether this was possible for M3 to do the same thing as the SEMedia Centre and if so; how?
Sorry to ask a stupid question if i am?
Yours hopefully Sam

alan0ng and uo:
could you attempt to convert again, then go to the advanced tab, and click the "copy lastrun.log to desktop", then email the lastrun.log file on your desktop to m3bugs at gmail.com, thanks.
fyrestrtr:
Thanks for for pointing that bug out.
samuelj:
M3 can do all those things. Once you load your video you can go to the Video tab, and change the 'widescreen video' setting. The default 'crop 16:9 to 4:3' will remove the sides of widescreen video to fit the phone, 'add letterbox to 16:9' will add black letterbox borders at the top and bottom to fit the phone screen. 'remove existing letterbox' will remove black letterbox borders already present in a movie. 'keep existing aspect ratio' will convert the movie to the same proportions as it already is.
To get a 700MB 2 hour movie into 150MB you'll need to set a low bitrate in M3, try the 'smaller size' movie preset on the M600i profile. Alternatively go to the Video tab, and set a custom bitrate, then check the Info tab for estimated output size.
Note to everyone
do NOT use 'DRC volume boost' when converting AVI files, this will cause the conversion to fail. This bug will be fixed in a new release soon.

Ah excellent!
Thanks very much mysh. I've managed to get my file size down to around 250mb for a decent viewing size.
-Update- Problem has arisen, i converted a 700mb avi file, which worked fine after conversion on quicktime when playing and displayed itself as a 250mb mp4 file. Though when i put into the video folder of my phone memory card and pressed play an error came up reading..
Application closed
Application MMFControllerProxyServerf18bd
bf4
Reason Code
E32USER-CBase
Reason Number
47
The file i am converting is DVDrip.AC3-aXXo movie.
Sorry to be a pain

-Update-
Although i may be classed as a heathen for speaking of this.. How come when the program such as mobiclip is on the phone, which i am guessing would of been put on to play my promotional memory card, does it allow a decent looking video to play even though the file size is so low (135mb) as a .mov file?
Is it not possible for that kind of conversion through any MP4/3GP converter?
Cheers Sam

I have sent the lastrun log to the gmail account for reporting bugs.
Just noticed that the last one I converted to generate the log was playing on my P990i without showing video and there was no audio.
Please check the lastrun log and assist me accordingly.
Thanks in anticipation.
