@makbil and Guy H,Including those words causes loss of 26 precious characters in a sms and makes 1 sms into 2. I think SE should also included an option to turn this off.

What if the message is "I love You" ??

Just did the update and back-up restore, the update took around 20 minutes with no hitches. Didn't have to update my SEUS nor the m-router. When I did the back-up, swiss manager wasn't reinstalled(still thinking if I need to install it again, seems superfluous). Still fiddling with the phone but everything seems to be a lot faster now(I came from R7A) especially the WLAN(much much faster ). You can now multitask and videos do start much faster. I love this phone.

how long will we(who dont have generic world 1/2) have to wait for update? anyone has any concrete info?

Only Se can answer that and they never do. It just appears as and when. The last one for branded phones was about a month to 6 weeks after.

I am a bit confused now. My CDA is /65 but I thought it's not the branded one. It shows only SE logo and not a smallest sign of any brand. But I can't update (phone is from Italy). Now is it branded because of /65 (not /1) or we have to wait simply because new fw should be first distributed to various countrys?

As a general answer, sometimes not all branding is apparent. You can have extreme branding i.e. VF LIVE! icons and startup screens.

Some other branding can be quite subtle (as was the turnaround with the VF P990i, no LIVE icons but a startup screen and pre-filled data accounts i.e. internet and MMS).

That may explain why some users think their handsets are unbranded, but in actual fact, aren't.

You can always copy/paste to a new SMS What you are saying is more like directing rather than forwarding. I still think SE has it right this time, it's just like email.

That would really mess things up now wouldn't it

@ dr thug - the 'forwarded from' in an sms was always a feature of the P series phone.. i used to crib about it initially while using the p910 but then i got used to it and automatically started deleting that part before forwarding any msg... You'll get used to it eventually.. And since there never was a way to turn it off in earlier p series phones- don't expect that to change in future firmwares.

Hilarious :S Nothing went as expected. The download was complete at 27%, the update was done at 52% and the phone has the new software and is working though i had to restart it twice in the beginning. Very bizarre.
The updating software needs to be more stable and accurate.

Is BB Connect 3.37 working for anyone on R9A ?

Or do we need 3.45?

I have tried all the tricks I know to get BBC 3.37 working on the new FW, but it defo does not work.

Problems I have found are

1. Autostart does not work (due the lack of a new signed cert for UIQ3)
2. Manual start leads to the service trying to connect, and then dropping the connection.
3. A clean installation of the BBC onto the phone makes no difference, same issues.

I have contacted SE on the UK and am awaiting a call back from them to see if a newer version of the BBC is available from them yet.

regards

David

Heya

I have a Dutch P990 (apparently), so no new FW for me yet. Thanks, DataSelect!

Anyway, can anyone answer these?
If you're using a Music Stand with the P990, does it now actually work as a radio using the alarm? On mine (R3b01) the radio comes on in the morning using the phone speaker, even though it must know it's on a music stand because it's using it as an aerial.
What are the new options for the hardware keys? I use mine in flip off mode, because it looks a billion times better and it's a data device primarily, but it really bugs me that I can't choose my own preference for the hardware key. I want it to start a new SMS, or at least turn on speakerphone, not just the piss poor selection SE gives us.
Speakerphone easier to turn on (flip removed, remember) during a call? Worked fine on my P900, don't know why they binned it.
Can I change my CDA? Like at wotanserver or whatever, to a generic world one? My phone's not branded, it's just not generic.
Why won't SE release a changelog? They must read forums like this one (at least, I'd hope so, or they're idiots) so why not just put us out of our misery instead of playing a stupid game of find-the-improvement?

Anyways, getting slowly happier with my P990 (R520, P800, P900 heritage, so good), annoyed about my CDA and hoping that I can actually use my music stand next to my bed now.

Cheers
