Yes. SE are aware of the problem and it has been rectified. If you do manage to get a problem phone they will replace it under warranty.

Regarding the missed call/text symbol, it does appear on the standby screen if press one of the volume keys. Then you get the clock and other relevant symbols in black and white. In normal standby the screen is completely blank, like a lot of recent SE phones.

Going back to my volume problem, is anyone else able to make difect comparisons with the W580i and other Walkman phones - through the headphones, not the speaker. I would be interested to know whether its just my particular phone, or all of the W580i's that are quieter than other models, or in my case quieter than my old W810i.

Just a bit of a tip about getting some decent battery life from the w580. Bit obvious really considering the phone uses an accelerator but if you turn off the steps function the battery life is extended greatly.

You never know, that may help someone who just leaves it on without realising it eats up the battery.

RE: broken keys.

I have been using a W580 recently and have been texting around 100 messages a day! No broken keys here and I haven't been treating it particularly softly.

RE: accelerometer

Yes there is a notable difference in battery life with and without the step count being on.

Much the same here with the keys. Been texting and entering contacts/dates an awful lot and no problem with the keys at all. Looking ay the pad I reckon you could have a problem if you hit a key right on the edge as it does flex a great deal then. Don't know if it is me but I just seem to hit the key dead centre every time with no problems.

Having said all that I bet I will crack one of the buggers today.

Help!

I need to order a new phone within two weeks and pressed for a decision. Above all I want the walkman 3.0 software but I also need something quick. It is between the w580 or wait for the first walkman phone to be brought out.

I can not wait for longer than a few weeks though as I will be borrowing a loaner phone from work (wireless store) after I sell my phone. A lady called asking for a samsung trace, I have a brand new refurbished one that I said I would sell her for $225 - can not pass that deal up.

How bad is the w580 camera and is the walkman 2.0 software sufficient?
