I'm worried about the battery.. In the wp is written BTS-33 which is 900mah.. While the P1 is with the brand new BST-40 model, which is 1120mhz, and because of that w960's stand-by and talktime are alomost 1/3 worse than P1's.. BUT as far as I see P1 supports BST-33 and thats automatically means w960 supports BST-40, so If they don't put it in the retail package with w960 u can buy it for some little amount of money if u wanna:P
I hope this is true. As for the camera lens protection your right its not too much of a bigie as ill be having the phone in a very protective case at all times anyway.

Oficially-Q4 2007 so thats October-December.. I think the launch will be for December, I want my suggestion to be wrong, but P1 is just launching.. They must give a time for P1 to sell some pices of it.. Cause w960 is much better in multimedia and outlook+the same specs and even better performance(guess so)
I'm going to bet it is released almost as soon as possible, probably in Oct. if I had to guess. While SE will never admit that the Iphone is a threat, the fact that it is being released in Europe in late '07 means that SE is going to want to have their phone on the market first. The more people that have their phone first means fewer people who might buy the Iphone if they were forced to wait.

Yeah but that same thinking could have been applied to the imaging market with k850 vs n95 but as it will be in reality the n95 will have been out for a long time before the k850 ships so your theroy I would say is not of SEs way of thinking this time round.

The N95 is not a massmarket threat to

and therefore

don't mind the K850 being out later. With the Iphone it's different.

All of right, but we can only guess for now.. Ofcourse the beset for us is earlier launch, maybe oct for example will be great, so in January 2008 to be avaiable in 500euro, which will be great price for such a device.. I again started to guess

damn
With k850 and N95 is really non-competitive cause the one is a clear camera phone with non-os platform and the other is a clear os-platform(the latest symbian) based model with some more features if we must be honest..
I think the real oponent of n95 can be w960.. yes, it's much later model, but why not? Both Symbians+nice multimedia.. The one has gps&hsdpa, but the other has better multimedia (it look like.. the reviews will show is it correct or not) and so on:)
P.s K850 has 930mah battery, but the w960 900mah.. yep, it's quite strange! In fact even with 900mah w960 stands 27hours in playback and good standby/talktime/100% load time(8hours).. BUT we should not forget thats Symbian + touchscreen(and it's big..)+WI-FI(it wanna more energy too) etc. and I hope SE will insert the P1's 1120mah BST 40 (the newest model) batter for w960 too.. It will be nice:)
Regards.

Are you kidding? I see N95s everywhere. Anyone in the UK can tell you that the N95 is now very common.

UIQ3.1 - now why do you want that? Because it's a higher number? The reality is that the .1 in 3.1 only means that it has refinements suitable for non touchscreen UIQ phones like the forthcoming Motorola RIZR Z8. It offers virtually no advantages for the W960, P1 etc.
This is BS. Read the UIQ3.1 product description, there are a lot more differences than just the additional Softkey Style UI configuration for non-touch screen phones. There are UI/usability enhancements like the new Task List, SVG graphics, SVG icons, plus Java upgrade and it's based on Symbian 9.2.

The Z8 uses the same OMAP2420 chip as the N93, N93i, N95 and soon to be released E90. These N series devices boot in between 22seconds for my N93 to 27 seconds for the N95 and whilst these are all at least 2-3 times faster than the SE UIQ3 devices i can't see the Z8 being any faster with the same chip the N73 is slower as it doesn't have this chip.

does start time matter that much? i'd be more interested in a phone that runs stable, smooth and requires no reboots..

This is the one thing that puts me of the smartphones - unstable software and rebooting
Hopefully we will see a stable P1 which should mean a stable w960 right?
